Hey, this is my first time using SG Forums. I'm 16, I'm a girl taking O levels this year, hoping to get into a poly next year. And I'm interested in JPSDS.
If I apply for JPSDS, at the end of the scheme, I automatically work with the army after the 4-year bond?
And can women apply for the scheme? Do we have to pass Napfa test to apply for the JPSDS? (I'm interested in the Service Vocation Specialist career prospect)
I hope to get some replies, thanks! :)
What service and vocation are you interested in?

Of couse it is unwise to apply for the scheme. Three years later, when you suddenly decided to become a fashion designer, r u going to break the bond?
It is always very tempting, with all the money and glory. But, r u going to lock ur future by putting down ur signature at the age of sixteen?
most young ones sign on because they look good in a smart spiffy fashionable uniform.

Glory? Glory is for scholars.

O.o I saw shorter female officers at the seminar yesterday. Some of the women were less than 1.6metres and they seemed to fit the uniform well.
xmm. joining the army will turn a bright spark cheerful lady into the opposite some years down the road

all are chio.
You mean like the woman in the RSS Independence video on cyberpioneerTV
i ever know a group of girls under the scheme. They sign on wanting to be in the navy... after poly they went do their BMT.
after BMT, their thinking is will be posted to navy to continue their training. But to their surprise, they were told that navy do not require any trainee at that momment.
They were given 2 choices, either transfer to air-force to be technician (which they were against the idea as they quoted, if want to be technician must as well join some factory) or join the artillery.
Hi! I attended the Women's Seminar too! You're right. Your bond starts after you graduate from Poly, go for BMT and finish training. Of course females get to apply for the scheme too! And yes, you have to take your NAPFA test first. I hope I've helped:)

Hi lexifox
I joined the JSPDS in 1989 when I was 16.5 yrs old after my 'O' levels. Fyi I am still in service(MDES). Btw I'm a lady too. If it is what you want to do, don't be bothered by what other "guys" say. In my cohort, there are 6 of us from the army, 3 from navy. All left the service except me and till now we are still very close, and they have move on and done well in the civilian world.
All the best to you!!
