Hello everybody.
I am 19 as of 2012 and will be enlisting for my ns at 21.
I tried to sign on spf last year for home award polytechnic for
the monthly allowance and was rejected.
This sem i got 2.55 GPA which is 0.5 points above the
requirements for navy.
http://www.mindef.gov.sg/navy/careers/scholarship_dip_system_engineers.html
Is is advisable to sign on?
I do not look forward to leavng ns and getting a 1.3k a month job.
After my bond with the navy is up i plan to migrate to another country.
PS Does anybody know if the tuition fee grants , 3 year working in singapore requirement can be fulfilled as i sign on as a regular or ?
from the above writing, we can deduce that you're a S'pore PR, because a PR's tuition fee grant conditional clause is to work for 3 years in Singapore in order to repay back to fulfill the grant's conditions.
therefore, since you plan to migrate, you will naturally be rejected since you will fail the mentioned criteria of "Must be a Singapore citizen or a Singapore PR intending to take up citizenship" because there's the compulsory secruity clearance level/ background checks needed so as to work as a regular career soldier.
and with the increasing push of the current governmental public policy of Think Singaporeans First, we don't think so since we can see that you just want to suck the benefits of this country and thereafter just dump this country as a springboard for another country.
funny??ts never n havent even worked already start thinking of immigrating outa spore .singa[ore obviously is wrong somewhere nowadays. .
Sigh i think i messed up . . I read the terms and condition blindly. .
Just realised as a full fledged singaporean , no
need to stay in singapore to work for 3 year...
So my next question is , is it possible to straight away leave singapore
after i finish my ns? What happens to my reservist and such?
To hitmanfactory , It isnt that singapore has something wrong.
I personally do not like singapore as a country to spend
the rest of my life in . I like nature. Driving. Cliff Diving.
Driving overseas is so much cheaper. Nature dont need to elaborate?
Cliffdiving , singapore? LOL
There are more but it would takes ages to type it all out.
So can i leave after serving my ns.
If you intend to migrate anyway why even serve?
If you wan to sign on as a navy now, it is quite ok.Typically, Navy now is having a lack of seaman. They will try to keep you as long as possible. The bad thing is because there is a lack of manpower, the seaman tends to get overwork.
You get to sail to other countries pretty often. So you will expose yourself to other culture for free.
Because if i migrate straight after ns . i will have little to no saving. . .
Lokey you have experience as navy?
If you have no plan for the near future I say go for it. If you have good CCA background it will be a plus point for you.
Other than that, I'm 20 years old and i have ORD LOH.
=D
I need to apply by may. So it is planning for the far future. .
I do not have a cca. .
