I am now serving my NS at a stay-out camp in the east but due to family issue have to really go back everyday and take care of daily stuffs and parents before things get nasty. Not sure if this is possible, but any advice on ideas and ways to transfer out of my camp to the camp in the west as to better facilitate travelling. (p/s: I'm living in the west btw..)
go speak to your unit's S1 Manpower officer/ deputy S1 manpower officer/ chief clerk.
But to the best of your knowledge, do you think it's possible. Or will they give you some reasons and end up have to suck thumb.
While it's likely to be impossible, they will suggest other ways to help you cope...
if ask, at least you have tried.
if don't ask, then don't bother and just lan lan suck thumb, serve and f off.
Thanks rednano. Anybody else wanna offer their 2 cents worth?
sadly but true, only the S1 manpower branch has the means to handle this problem, other than speaking to your immediate officer-in-charge, since there is no other way out.
as mentioned by eac, given if so, they can only suggest other ways to help you cope. that's all.
afterall, this is not your grandfather's army, so you cannot change this and that at your fancy and whim.
Well, it depends on what unit you're serving in. If your unit has other branches in the west and you're nice to the posting clerk, you may stand a chance.
My 2cents to add:
Transfering out may have a slight risk because it is most likely transfering to another unit with a different people and SOP and your stay-out could be cancel in a flash regardless of your situation and could be a up hill task to get in back (i.e. unreasonable officers/enciks or the vocation requires you to be stay in camp most of the time).
Change camp cannot la...move ur house to the west seem a more realistic idea la...><"
Several conditions have to be fufilled..
1) Your S1 head is a nice guy, and actually makes the effort to do something about it.. Don't count on it though, they usually dont bother about this kind of things, or not, everyone will start requesting for camp change.
2) Your camp does not need you ie: they have extra manpower. Which is unlikely if you're a clerk or storeman. Or else they have to transfer someone in to replace you which is troublesome and inconveniencing your replacement.
3) A camp near the West side desperately needs extra manpower. But once you're there, you will have no control whether to stay in or stay out, and things may end up much much worse than before.
Either way, changing camps is very unlikely to be approved and if that happens, just suck thumb and serve for 2 years.. Shit happens in army.

This is most likely.
1. offer you a bunk.
2. offer you other solutions for family problems and say "we cannot solve everything or please everyone"
Hope you succeed but you may be transferred to a worse unit eg stay-in.
