Then most likely you'll be all dept of armour....if u wanna get promoted fast.it's good to go all cbt vocation in armour
Well if you are regular you will probably get what you request for.. But you will still need to take the psychomotor test and interview for tankee. You will need to pass it before you can be a tankee. Specs wise, if you never wear specs you will have a higher chance, but now very difficult to find people who never wear specs le. There are quite a number of tankee who wear specs too. But the main thing is the psychomotor test, if you cannot pass that, you will never have the chance to be a tankee at all.
When nearing your pro term, OCS side will invite people to go to ATI for the psychomotor test and interview. There are quite a number of people who fail the psychomotor though. Haha :)

Hi will you share with me more about the psychomotor test if you have knowledge about it?
Errr. Don't know how to explain it. Cos it's not like academic tests, it's like testing your coordination between your hands and stuff. They will ask you to multitask and do a number of tasks at the same time. Basically you need to be able to multitask damn well lo and your hands coordination cannot screw up. Cos tankee need to control a lot of different stuff at the same time.
Its like asking you to type a 200 worded sms on a nokia "dumb" phone with one hand, while searching for 5 empty seats at lau pa sat during lunch hour on a weekday, done all at the same time. They give you 10 mins to complete the above 2 task together.
Because as a tank commander, you have to hold a CMG in your right hand, hold the turret control on your left hand, give FCOs with your mouth, while your eyes are all over the place, at the same time. That's psychomotor.
the tests are pretty easy to get through if you dont have coordination and psychomotor problem. it is pretty easy to tell who has psychomotor problem just from the test itself, so basically those who failed the psychomotor test will be going over to AI if they are in armour.
like what ditzy says, as a tank commander, and especially when you are a PC, you will have to control and fire the CMG (which is a modified GPMG) with 1 hand, control the turret with the other, give instructions to your gunner, loader, driver within your vehicle, and give instructions to the rest of the vehicles in your platoon under your charge, and of course, comms back to your OC or HQ for sitrep. Why tankee is more challenging because you have a lot of controls to deal with, the whole panel in front of you in the leopard can make you crazy initially because there are just too many! haha. :)
but armour is seriously very fun! haha :)
Psychomotor tests are difficult.
You either pass or you fail. Training for a psychomotor skill takes years.
Therefore, you either have it or don't have it.
As a vehicle commander, the feeling of getting holland with the whole company behind me still haunts me. Next thing you hear on comms is your OC, going "OEI! you bring the whole company go holland ar!?!"
Don't care what formation, tankee always goes first. So yeah, they better not holland.

true true! but its really very difficult to hollan in singapore.. it will only happen when in germany or wallaby.
@ditzy: were you from TCC or TOCC?
How many years driving thru lim chu kang, all those dirt roads still look the goddamn same. Neither, I'm just a vc for something softer. In my days, its always tact team, tankees always in the lead. We just back em up.

Will they let you be TC right away or make you make you rotate through loader and gunner first before TC? A TC has to know how to load or shoot.

Whether you are in TCC or TOCC, you will be rotating roles between loader, gunner, VC or driver. Cos next time when you are the commander already, you will need to know how to do all of them as you will need to give instructions to them as well.
