NS 3 Milestones: $9000 National Service Recognition Money

I just got my 1st milestone of the National Service Recogntion Award 2 weeks ago. Anyone know whether this can be use for private education in SIM? Thanks.

- Completion of NSF: The NSman's
Operationally Ready Date (ORD). The payment will be made on
completion of the 20th month of NSF and deposited into the NSman's
Post Secondary Education Account (PSEA).
- Mid-point of ORNS training cycle: This
will be on the completion of three High-Key In-Camp Training (ICT)
or five ICT (of which two are High-Key ICT), whichever is earlier.
This award will be deposited into the NSman's CPF
account.
- Completion of ORNS traning cycle: This award will be deposited into the NSman's CPF account.
The NSRA is effective from 29 Aug 2010. National Servicemen who reach the milestones on or after this date will be eligible for the respective milestone awards. For example, full-time National Servicemen whose ORD is on or after 29 Aug 2010 will be eligible for the first milestone award. This includes those whose ORD was originally on or after 29 Aug 2010, but had been brought forward due to the fitness incentive of a two-month reduction in full-time NS duration.
The award will be paid out to eligible servicemen within two months of reaching the milestone.
Payment
The award at the first milestone will be deposited into the Post Secondary Education Account (PSEA) to meet full-time National Servicemen's aspirations to further their studies after they complete their NSF. The PSEA can be used for education in approved local institutions. The second and third milestone awards will be deposited into the servicemen's Central Provident Fund (CPF) accounts, and distributed to the Ordinary, Medisave and Special Accounts in the same proportions as prevailing CPF contribution rates. This will allow the servicemen to use the awards for housing, healthcare and retirement.

i served national service and completed the 9 cycles of reservist but got nothing for it. i feel cheated!!!

sounds like many cases of wrong time in wrong place.
isnt one of the 7 core values of SAF broken?
it said to have care for soldiers?how come they care only for some soldiers..that means SAF itself dont observe the 7 SAF core values!if u not soldier then u must be a bangla to them ??

they should give to all. as long as you have served and are still alive to get it. its disgusting they try to save money on that. -

i suppose if therees a war and evacuation of troops to safer areas.....would it be like same tactic as the $9k NS recognition money where only the few lucky ones are selected while rest forgotten and sold off for dead?think high chance it would happen unfortunately in future. -

The money is credited into your CPF and divided into OA/SA/Medisave according to the %.
Whether it can be used for your education, depends on the CPF max limits for education, through your ordinary account lor.
So in short - of course it contributes to whatever you want to do, buy house in future, whatever la..... but subject to the current CPF rules on the usage and max limits for each use.
