Hi forum,
I have an exit permit for the next three years. My reason for disruption is that I am going to study in the UK for my bachelor's degree. The thing is, I recently failed my IPPT (I tried the Insanity 60-day workout by Shaun T, doesn't seem to help with IPPT) and am now called up for RT. My question is this: Is there any way to defer RT? Do I have to call the hotline or my unit clerk? Can they hold me back and prevent me from studying overseas until I complete my RT? Please help me. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me, and I have already got financial assistance from my school (LSE) and its alumni. Seeing that I have an exit permit, do you think my CO will be inclined to giving me disruption from RT for the next three years? I have to depart on the 26th this month. I really need help. Thanks.

Q12: What types of feedback does MFU handle?
A12: MFU handles all matters concerning MINDEF/SAF manpower and training
issues. These include requests, enquiries, suggestions and complaints
from NSmen and the public.
Well since I have an EP for the next year from XX Sept 2012 onwards, it should mean that I've been disrupted. But since they called me for RT, does that mean I can just go for some of the RT, and ignore those RTs that fall after XX Sept 2012? I'm afraid they might charge me if I do that, so I would like to ask those who are more experienced what they would do. If not, is there any number I can contact? Other than the NS Hotline, which doesn't seem to be manually manned? Do I call the disruption number (HRSC): 6373 1048?
BTW, before the zealots decide to flame me, I do understand that I have the obligation of serving RT as long as I am a Singaporean male citizen who fails his IPPT. However, since it would not hurt for the state to postpone this obligation to a later date, and it would help me a lot, I don't see why they shouldn't be able to do it. Thanks!
1. Call the 24/7 NS Hotline @ 1800-3676767.
2. After choosing the language, there is a "Press 0 to speak to a customer service officer".
OK, I'll give that a try tomorrow! Tried calling the other lines (some redirected me, others failed to pick up). Thanks!
The round-the-clock NS hotline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week...
