Answer:
Yes, you should for your health and well-being.
It's similar to consulting a Medical Officer (MO).

Scare tactics of malingering by your so-called "friends"?
Your friend think/ hear this, your friend say that, then you scare/ fear of hearsays/ rumours?
A Medical Officer (MO), graduated with a professional medical licence, will decide whether you need special/ extra medical attention for psychological help from a psychiatrist who specialise in psychiatry.
People who have ankle injury, cannot walk properly, they see sports/ foot specialist.
People who have brain injury, cannot think properly, they see brain specialist.
Therefore, people who have mental condition, they see a psychiatrist.
To consult a psychiatrist is for mental well-being and emotional health conditions.
It is for your own good.
Ironically, a person who has a mental condition often doesn't know he has one.
Unless people near you discover that you are talking to yourself/ no one, and you are not aware of it. They care for you, so they advise/ urge you to consult a psychiatrist.
I asked MO to refer me to a SAF Psychiatrist.
He issued the referral letter to me just a few days ago.
He ask me why I need the referral.
I mention to him that I was feeling the signs and symptoms of depression.

If you genuinely think you are suffering from depression, then go forth and go see the psychiatrist.
If you are not faking it, then there is no reason for you to be charged for malingering.
Dump your friend, unfriend him on Facebook, and delete his contact details from your phone. True friends do not give such dangerously harmful untruths.
