I wish NSmen will give some answers.
1) NSmen cannot pick and choose vocation. When sign on, SAF give you 3 preferable choices, same like PSLE apply to secondary schools, 'O' Levels apply to JAE in JCs/ Polys, right? Is it not guarantee that regulars will also have to do overtime (OT) who are on 8-5 workday, even when one's status is married, such as major events like NDP, camp audits, guard duties, local and overseas outfield exercises?
2) The monthly wages is definately different for regulars with different qualifications.
E.g. 'O' levels starting wage at same entry rank for combat/ non-combat. The minimum salary a regular can receive.
- Thus, the entry wage for sign on driver/ supply supervisor/ medic for 'O' levels certificate and the wage after promotion to sergeant in combat-support-service vocations.
Due to family commitments, I wish to prefer combat-support-service vocations, even though I now realised that SAF cannot guarantee my desired vocation choice.
I hope to have my answers from the SAF Recruitment Centre and its FAQs!
