SINGAPORE: National Servicemen (NSmen) can expect more lifestyle benefits as a result of a collaboration between recreational association SAFRA and DBS Bank.
The partnership has produced a new credit card and debit card, which will be offered to SAFRA's over 500,000 members from April next year.
SAFRA President and Second Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing announced the initiative on Saturday.
Existing SAFRA members will not have to pay a fee for the cards when they are introduced, allowing them discounts and privileges at over 1,700 merchant outlets island-wide.
Benefits will cover a variety of areas, from groceries, shopping and entertainment to travel.
Mr Chan said: “When we say we recognise the NSmen, it's not just the NSmen per se, we also want to reach out to their families because they also form an important part of the support network, which is why in all the efforts of SAFRA, we consciously make sure that we have packages for the NSmen and their families."
Sim S Lim, Singapore country head at DBS Bank, said: "When we do benefits, we try to look at it in a holistic manner so it impacts the person, the family, and then of course there are a lot of brands that would like to participate. So hopefully, we can bring a holistic package to the people and to the members."
