Those who passed the swimming test (50 metres breaststroke and tread water) will not join the remaining swimming lessons. Swimmers will just have free time to rest in bunks when swimming lessons are conducted for non-swimmers.
During the 1st swimming sesson, those who know how to swim will need to pass the swimming test to prove they know how to swim 50m breaststroke and tread water.
Those non-swimmers can just raise their hands and voice out. They will undergo swimming lessons on the 1st swimming sesson.
Swimming is an essential life skill, especially for Singaporeans who
live on an island. Chances are also high that any soldier in operation
will see some time in the water. To ensure that our soldiers are able to
manage this, we train our soldiers to be water-confident. We build up
their stamina through aqua jogging training. By correcting their
technique with practice, they stay afloat better and improve their
overall physical fitness at the same time.
This swimming training not only helps to ffn overcome any obstacle in
life. The recruits will also use these swimming skills out in the field
as they have to cross bodies of water while keeping their rifles dry.
