how about explaining the route to become a say, commando, guards or other more well known ranks ?
like:
2mths PTP> 2 mths BMT> ...
i guess this would help pple who are enlisting to plan for their career.. anyways hi all, i'm new
gonna enlist in 1 yr+ time... looking forward to it

and glad u haf a positive attitude towards ur ns too.
i frm inf. so wat i can say here is frm my limited knowledge.
there r 2 types of bmt - mono intake or bmtc.
mono-intake - u go to ur unit for bmt. hence u dun haf a choice wich vocation u land in. it mabbe gds, inf, cdo... watever. but once u r there u r there for ur entire ns. unless o cos if accidents happen, etc.
for bmtc, i guess u can state ur interest, but im not sure how much tt wil influence ur posting after bmt.
if u kanna posted to gds, cdo frm bmtc, u wil go there and go 4 their conversion cses, details of wich u haf to find out from others here. after tt u r one of them.
or u may go to advanced schs like sispec and ocs.
frm there, o cos u may get posted to gds or cdo, etc after ur cse too. and similarly u go 4 their conversion cses den.
as for ppl signing on, u wil go bmtc for ur bmt, and den either go to the unit, go sispec or ocs, depending on the appointment u sign on to. after tt den u get posted to one of the units for tt vocation and go 4 conversion.

These are other training institutes that also lead to a 3SG rank..OETI( Ordnance Engineering and Training Institute), where they train automotive specs, armament(light/heavy weapons) specs or radar/comms specs.Its 8-5 stayout and life is good there, though very few PES A or B end up there unless you are OOC(Out of course). Another one is AETI(Air Engineering Training Institute) They train aircraft technicians , thats all I know about them. Many other vocations also have a 3SG estab...Like admin supervisors, i.e Chief Clerk PA or CO PA, even OPS Specs...Don't limit your mind to just SISPEC or OCS...Cos the instructors there like to play games with you guys..BTW theres also 3SG for transport specs, i.e drivers who have Diploma or 'A' levels.

anywayz bus 89 goes to the ferry term too. but if its a special occasion e.g. send off / parent visiting they will arrange to haf the buses ferry the visitors to and from the interchange

one piece of friendly advice if ya' ever train in pasir laba 'E shaped' knoll.
if you see any blinds, don't kaypoh go touch. that hill is filled with 84mm rnds -

Yeah... the west end of Singapore is really someplace that should be open to the public occassionally. Remember there was once when I did a coastal hook, man, the view of the 2nd link from the RPL is really nice at night. Too bad on exercise, no mood to enjoy the view.

some basic commands - good to noe now
1. samula - do again!
2. se-di-a - attention
3. se-nang-di-ri - at ease
4. ke-ka-nan pu-seng - turn to the right
5. ke-ki-ri pu-seng - turn to the left
6. ke-bla-kan pu-seng - turn to the back
7. dari ka-nan - take dressing to the right; commonly used with 9
8. dari ki-ri - take dressing to the left; commonly used with 9
9. je-pa-ja-lan - march in quick time(dunno if tts the exact meaning);
10. han-ta-ka-ki je-pa-han-ta - march on the spot
11. lim-peh-ka-nan - shift to the right (while marching)
12. lim-peh-ki-ri - shift to the left (while marching)
the commands below are for arms drill.
the weapon is called - sen-ja-ta. hence all the commands below will be followed by sen-ja-ta
11. ru-so - port arms
12. ju-lang - high port
13. tu-ron - down arms
14. ho-mat - salute
due to my failing memory, i have forgotten quite a number of commands, such as running. i am not so sure if tu-ron and ju-lang were interpreted correctly or not! please come and add-on or amend! -
