My battalion have done a 10km fast march & GUESS wat we have 2 be in FBO so we reach our objective within 1hr 50minsOriginally posted by wuming78:oh yes its realli REALLi siong.. esp for ppl wif small build like me. even at the peak of my fitness i still cant reali tahan it..
btw, tsr states the speed of route march to be 4km per hour, and fast march being anything faster than tt. but normally, routes marches r already faster than 4 km per hour (at most 45 min?). hence the fast march we talking abt here is like 4 km per 30 min? or less.
and it seems tt fast marches r to be conducted oni in sbo (dunno where say.. my oc say one but i dun trust him) but i would imagine most of the units do it in fbo. tt is the ones ive had and r realli siong!
1 more impt thing is tat u have 2 water parade...at least 1 full water bottleOriginally posted by wuming78:about route marches
its realli abt conditioning. stil rem my first 4km route march at bmtc. i nearly died. eventually moved on to do like 40 km route march.
hence things like entire arm feel numb, breathlessness etc r all normal. it jus takes conditioning.
some tips: make sure ur boots r tight when u do marches, else u can get blisters or even sprains. keep feet dry by using powder. if need be can wear 2 socks too. make sure ur underwear wont rub against ur groin alot when u walk else by the end of it u wil get bad abrasion there and trust me, its horrible. heng i never kanna b4. if need be wear boxers, esp if u r one who sweats alot. tighten ur fullpack straps such tt the weight rests on ur upper back rather than lower back. do ur warm ups properly b4 starting. during rests, sit down and prop ur legs up. dun drag ur feet when u walk. IMPT: sing and njoy (at least try) while marching so u wil be distracted from ur fatigue.
soon route marches wil become rather njoyable.![]()

bicycle tights r like erm.. boxers rite? i guess so.. its mainly to minimise the rubbing of the skin against the garment esp when the garment is wet.Originally posted by bluez_sky:will wearing bicycle tights help to reduce abrasion?
bicycle tights r beri tight shorts worn by cyclists (so dat those muscular thighs will stand outOriginally posted by wuming78:bicycle tights r like erm.. boxers rite? i guess so.. its mainly to minimise the rubbing of the skin against the garment esp when the garment is wet.
hm... i guess.. but dun rush to go and get it cos in the end u mabbe like me - i dun need anything extra or special and i never kana abrasions.Originally posted by bluez_sky:bicycle tights r beri tight shorts worn by cyclists (so dat those muscular thighs will stand out)....de material is stretchable something like spandex. there's some form of cushioning @ de groin area.
