im the current poly batch and would be enlistin next year.. i always wanted to be an officer.. its kinda a childhood dream..
so i was wondering what does it takes to be an officer? what aspects they look out for in bmt when selection for ocs? i heard from pple that u cant be those 'siao-on' type, they look for pple who can get things done at the end of the day even if they dont do anyhin much themselves.. as in they giv ideas and tell others to do.. issit?? -

anyway heres my take
1. u haf to do well in the computer test administered when u go to cmpb for the med checkup. so dun jus click blindly.
2. u haf to be relatively fit and o cos, be pes a or b
3. u haf to be able to work as a team, and display leadership qualities. tt said, pls be urself and not resort to wayanging cos tt will only make u a pain in the a**. and ppl hate ppl who NATO.
4. u haf to do relatively well in the situational test during bmt
5. u haf to indicate ur interest in going to ocs to ur instructors.
6. alot of things can be trained and learnt, even leadership. but u mus at least haf the desire and the right frame of mind and attitude, cos those r hard-wired and are unlikely to change. if one's intention to become an officer is to njoy the privileges tt come wif it, or the power, den the world will be a better place if tt person remains a civilian. -
actually i wanted to be a officer.. in terms of a pilot when i was a kid.. but den circumstances forced me to switch to an army officer instead... cos im a specky..
anyway.. as a kid.. im always interested in anything military.. from reading up on military hardware, books on warfare.. i always read the 'pioneer' that my uncle brings back.. haa.. so i guess thats the main factor and driving point for me to be an officer.. my first taste of leadership is when i was a pc in ncc.. it was a great experience.. to be able to make right decisions and ur men respecting u for it... even tho its onli ncc.. haha

if u sign on as an army officer den as long as u perform pretty ok u will go to ocs after bmt.
in fact, there r diff stages when u can sign on - b4 enlistment, during bmt, or even after bmt, though tt might be abit late unless as u said, u successfully get to ocs urself.
but first o cos u mus be sure u noe the job and like the job and the env. its not ez u noe? -
hee..thats why i plan to sign on during bmt itself.. wanna get a feel of army life first..
