The Singaporean and Malaysian Armies participated in a joint exercise, Exercise Semangat Bersatu from 16 September to 26 September. The exercise, which was conducted in Malaysia, saw soldiers from the 6th Battalion Singapore Infantry Regiment (6 SIR) and the Malaysian Armed ForcesÂ’ (MAF) 5th Royal Ranger Regiment engage in a battalion-level full troop exercise.
Led by Commanding Officer of 6 SIR, LTC Chan Wei Gan, the highlight of Semangat Bersatu was a seven-day field training exercise. It consisted of a two-day cross-training programme and a five-day full troop deliberate defence exercise.
Through the interaction, new friendships were formed and old links strengthened. The joint exercise continues to be an important platform for both Armies in maintaining professional links and friendship.
Chief of Army (COA), MG Desmond Kuek, officiated at the closing ceremony of the exercise on 24 September.
