SAF Rations

you know the SAF MREs (meals ready to eat) things in those green packets? can it be bought anywhere? cuz i tried it once and its kinda nice.. and next year my sch bringing us to some ulu place in thailand for 10 days, and last year the batch who went 3/4 of them got diarrheoa (sp?)..anyone know whether can buy commercially?

Nope, it is an offence to bring SAF comb rations out of camp without approval...

My god, it's nice???!!! i think you can just buy a mess tin and maggi. Buy some solid fuel or bunsen burner and enjoy your maggi, it certainly taste much much much more better.

omg u think its nice...i think u've never tried the braised duck rice/chicken rice with mushroom....i think u tried the pasta issit? its the only "acceptable" one...
u try 7 days eat 14 packs of this...i dunno what to say lah, but true..when one is hungry even grass oso taste nice -
no no no, the duck is ok, it is the CHESTNUT CHICKEN RICE!(oh the horror of saying that) that is the worst of the worst........terrible sia the taste..........hope they phase it out by the time i go in.......

Among the whole lot in my time, the green/red bean soup is the best! Next up is the curry chicken when heated up.
Other than that, we have instant noodles, canned food, our own energy bar and say like instant soup for our usual 3 day 2nite mission packed in our full-pack.

But one thing I knew is that, we are probably the last batch to taste the agony of Rifle and Log PT.
And as I recalled... there is no such thing as a weather Cat status thingy. Whether is rain or shine, Rifle or log PT will carry on. -

Esp the braised duck, taste like cardboard, something the SAF certainly wun mind letting u take out camp, seems like its so terrible they are trying to get rid of it as much as possible by issusing it out as much as possible. My friend hated the thing so much he dumped two MRE packs in field camp and survived two who days on just one pasta pack.
Dude, go get canned food. -

Oh, besides American MREs, I assume Australian MREs is quite good too. Read in a magazine somewhere that they have....*gulps* steak in there. -
