Ok la, if i'm so vengeful as you might think, they would probably died when i'm issued life rounds during range or die under my " shan liang de " parang. It's because of the shit they handed me. I realised how much of a minority my worldview was in and still is. I realised that nasty personalities thrive in abundance in nasty environments.
Leaning to handle a gun was educational, even fun. The rest of it was boring, much of it demeaning and, except for the free weapons education and certain other realisations, it was a waste of 2.5 years.
I celebrated my 21st birthday in an army camp. That really got me thinking. I have become much more cynical and skeptical of the conventional worldview since then.
Oh, and in the first 10 days I learned more Hokkien than in the past 10 years before that. Even Malays and Indians tend to graduate from the army with a Diploma in Hokkien Vulgarities. -

I was a Signaller by vocation but was posted to an infantry unit. In fact I am still in an infantry unit for my reserivst. I tell u lah, reservist also waste time one lah. jus hope tt this mindset will not affect ur performance. somedae, touchwood, wat we learnt tt we found to be absolutely useless may come to be paramount for our survival.
