i realised that in the army, there live parasites who are incapable of doing much other than be dregs of humanity who can never hope to be in real society..
i realised that people of all creed and colour but not from influential families were suffering through the same thing....
i realised that if you have connections and loads of dosh, you can keng your way through NS..
i realised lots of things...
Me too, miss my friends, the stories, the chiong suaOriginally posted by Tango1:I guess alot of you dudes already said this, but I did learn the importance of knowing my limits...and sometimes pushing beyond that...
Discipline was a second important thing I learned...it sure helped me in my undergraduate years and is still helping me in my grad years.
I remember the chao-kengs tend to be confined to the infantry companies though...there were definately some in my coy, but I guess we do benefit in having a smaller outfit...group cohesion is higher, and it was basically an 'all-volunteer' (generally speaking) outfit.
Its been almost 7 yrs since I ORDed...I still remember the last day of NS... Just after collecting my pink IC...I took a slow walk around my NS memory lane; the barracks, bunk, MT line, and just as I passed by the armskote room, my fren, an armskoteman, was going through the records to prepare to 'deregister' the ORDed personnel from the armskote list...needless to say, I got to caress my carbine one last time....sigh...![]()

wat each of us take out of ns realli depends on ourselves.Originally posted by Tango1:Discipline was a second important thing I learned...it sure helped me in my undergraduate years and is still helping me in my grad years.

awwww...poor thing..nvm run to mama..Originally posted by Ogbunwezeh:WAste my 2.5 years. Times very hard to pass in NS. Lowest morale in my life when in NS. Forcing urself to do things u hate to do. No right to many things, no human right. Learnt nothing useful at all. I tot NS will make men mature but actually its not, i feel it make me stupid. Whenever i saw the NS recruitment advertistment in the train or TV, it make me laugh. Its all rather the opposite from the advertistement in the real army life. 2.5 years of doing nothing useful, waste my youth, my precious time. I can do better, more practical n useful thing in the working society rather than in NSHaiz...

i guess u come from a very shitty unit..u got my respect coming out there with a sane mind..Originally posted by octega:I realise that cooperative discussion doesn't exist in the army and one man's word is final. (usually higher rank than you and no matter how dumb and stupid it is, you do it)
I realise that request cooperative work doesn't exist in the army and the only way to do things is
1.) You f**k lower rank people left-right-up-down to do it(usually applies to higher rank people refer to the above point)
2.) You do it yourself
3.) You don't do it (heck, if nobody is doing, why should I be doing the sh*t)
I realise diligent, hardworking and on the ball = trouble
I realise, the higher rank you are=the lesser dirty you get (physical sense)
Just some points I realise in my NS term, maybe only applicable to me only lah...
Nah...it depends on what vocation and where you are posted to. By realising some basic truth, life is easy to go by.Originally posted by NathanG5:i guess u come from a very shitty unit..u got my respect coming out there with a sane mind..
im lucky..the only dumb arse with have is our new C.O..n when i went back there..he become worst then ever..
Yeah exactly... No matter how much effort we put in, they will not appreciate n the superiors get all credits. Pls dun blame the men for being chao keng, sometime when we think of this, it really make us no motivation to continue doing our tasks appoint, everything we did r take for granted...Originally posted by Ole:Big waste of time, no point in doing things good, just make do can already, the superiors never appreciate what we do.
eventually u wil realise tt this happens to all big organisations where there is clear hierarchy - even in the private sector.Originally posted by Ogbunwezeh:Yeah exactly... No matter how much effort we put in, they will not appreciate n the superiors get all credits.
