  I would like to know more about NS.
  
  When will we be able to go back n visit our frenz and family ?
  
  Wat do we haf to do inside?
  
  How long do we have to stay in NS?
  
  How long are we able to stay wif our family n frenz before goin back ?

  depends on ur qualifications- minimum 2yrs
  How long are we able to stay wif our family n frenz before goin back ?
  if theres no extas is during the weekends

  meaning extra duties u hv to perform... eg. guard duties

  entras are weekend vacation on Pulau tekong resort, go sign for it.

  yes u hv to stay behind until the duty finish.. (if u got duty on sat, u will b released on sun) for duties, theres no extra day off...

  actualli for question 2 "what we do inside", it depends.
  
  for the combat fit ppl, after BMT there r several possible routes - more advanced schools, posted to units, etc
  
  so wat u do depends on where u go.

  oh, wat brutus mentioned, basic military training. sort of like intro to military life, lasts abt 3 mths from the day u enlist.

  no.. sign on means becoming a soldier as a profession - by choice.
  
  whereas serving national service is involuntary, and is an obligation all male citizens haf to discharge.

  Police and civil defence are both national service too. For my friend who went to police, he have to serve 2 and half yrs. SCDF i think is two yrs. For both you can book out on the first weekend i think.
