FAQ: Acronyms in SAF

Please feel free to contribute! I will consolidate them from time to time on the first few threads for easy reference.
Oh when you contribute, maybe you wanna give some description as to what the thing / place / person is.

Infantry/Guards/Commando related
Weapons
LAW - Light Anti-tank Weapon
SAW - Section Automatic Weapon
GPMG - General Purpose Machine Gun
SFG - Singapore Fragmentation Grenade
ATGM - Anti-Tank Guided Missile -
MP related
PDS - Precision Drill Unit, what you see on National Day with those rifle drills..
SIB - Special Investigation Branch, something like civilian's CID, investigate any offences that occurs in the SAF..
Dog Unit - Train dogs and MPs to perform attack, tracking, contraband search etc..
ARP - Anti Riot Police, called when there's a riot which involves the SAF..
ZPU - Zonal Provost Unit, not very sure what it does..
DB - Detention Barracks, MPs posted there to jaga the inmates, aka Brazil team becoz of their yellow shirts and blue shorts.. -

EWTW = Electronic and Weapon Training Wing
ATW = Automotive Training Wing for B,C Mech
AVTW - Armoured Vehicle Training WIng for A Mech
OETI = Ordnance & Engineering Training Institute.
PTW = Para Trg Wing
err..originators of these acronyms. care to come in to give an explanation for each of them? -
Beside the seven combat arms, we have combat support like Medical, Supply & Transport, and Maintenance & Engineering Support.
Under Maintenance,
HQ MES - Maintenance and Enginering Support formation
Direct and advises divisional and non divisional maintenance units up to battalion level in peacetime.
Provides for training in OETI
Participates in all or most equipment engineering projects
Under MES
We have
3DSMB, 6DSMB, 9DSMB, GSMB, OETI
DSMB - Direct Support Maintenance Battalion, divisional maintenance units.
GSMB - General Support Maintenance Battalion, provides maintenance for Armour units
OETI - Ordnance & Engineering Training Institute, trains all maintenance people.
A Mech - Repairs Armoured and/or Tracked Vehicles
B Mech - Repairs All Wheeled Vehicles
C Mech - Repairs Specialised Equipment and Vehicles
ATW - Automotive Training Wing - B Mech, C Mech
AVTW - Armoured Vehicles Training Wing - A Mech
EWTW - Electronics and Weapon Training Wing. - Armourer, armskoteman, people who deals with electronic stuff
Ok thats all, I cannot go into the acronyms for stuff within ORBAT of units, or the vehicles types, and other sensitive info on our equipment.
Otherwise, the MSD might be on my head. Most of these can be found in websites. -
For those going BMT
BMTC - Basic Military Training Centre
SectCom - Section Commander - Speciallist in charge of the section
PS - Platoon Sergeant - Speciallist in charge of the whole platoon
PC - Platoon Commander - Officer in charge of the whole platoon
CSM - Company Sergeant Major - Company disciplinary personnel
CQM or CQ for short - Company Quartermaster - Company Storeman
Coy 2IC - Company 2nd in Charge - Officer assisting OC
OC - Officer Commanding
RSM - Regimental Segeant Major - Chief Honcho of all disciplinary personnel - watch out!
CO - Commanding Officer - Commander of the battalion or training units
SECT - Section - Smallest unit in army, varies from 7 people in infantry to 12/13 in BMTC
PLT - Platoon - Consist of a number of sections
COY - Company - Consist of a number of platoons
BN - Battalion - Consist of a number of companies
OO - Orientation Officer
MO - Medical Oficer
TO - Training Officer -

A/C = Aircraft, not aircon
Techs / Senior Techs
AE = Airframe/Engine
RC = Radar/Comms
EI = Electronic Instrument
AGE = Erm, can't remember. They either stay in workshop bang metal or they are arming the aircraft.
DCC = Dedicated Crew Chief
ADD = Acceptable Deferred Defect (Something spoil but still can fly)
TFOA = Things Falling Off Aircraft
BF = Before Flight (Servicing)
AF = After Flight (Servicing)
TR = Turnround (Servicing)
WPT = Water Particle Test (Check fuel for water, one of the checks during B/F)
FDT = Forward Deployment Team (They sit there and wait for something wrong to happen)
AFLO = Air Force Logistics Order
GAIR = Ground Accident Incident Report (Bus bang people)
FAIR = Flight Accident Incident Report (Airplane bang bird)
U/S = Unserviceable
GS = Screwdriver
FOD = Foreign Object Damage (Something not related to aircraft spoil the aircraft, e.g. metal wires)
AMS = Aviation Material Specialist (Storeman)
AVS = Aviation Vehicle Specialist (Driver)
ACS = Aircrew Specialist
AMO = Air Maintenance Officer
AEO = Air Engineering Officer
WSO = Weapon Systems Officer
C3 (C cube) = Command, Control and Communications
AOSS = Air Operations System Specialist

And armskotemen dun go under EWTW. That's a fallacy. Armskotemen are basically ppl who take charge of armskote, but they DO NOT
repair weapons! Yea....they juz go there for a few days of armskotemen training...and OMers too (or maybe never *shrugz*) -
My token contribution:
ATEC - Army Training and Evaluation Center. Formerly known as BTEC (Battalion Training and Evaluation Center), ATEC is also the nickname for the evaluations they conduct.
OPFOR - OPposition FORce, also known as "Aggressors". In every ATEC you need enemies, and the OPFOR are it. Probably the most experienced unit in Singapore, in a way. -
There is one very important one all of us will want to know
ORD!!!!! -
Abbreviations in SAF are considered Classified Informations...

OETI = only eat, talk idle
AETI = all eat talk idle
SISPEC = suffer in silence plus extra confinement
OCS = only cuckoo survive
