Both frens were NCO 2nd sgt rank, after they post out, they got staff sargent within a year I think! haha... But both have been in the army for 6 years already. They're both quite young I think 25. One is has quit beening a regular going to ord soon, the other is in cmdo recce.

From what I heard from my officer, SAF will try to grab as much NSF into elite forces as possible. To the maximum intake. For my batch, we want to siam the vocation also very hard. Say dun wanna be in the unit they still throw us inside there. But later batches, they very particular. Must PES A (Perfect eyesight, a bit lousier nvm), GOOD ATTITUDE during interview (very impt) and your physical.(Not that impt) Physical wise, you must be the type who dun give up that easily. My fren 0 pull ups he pull and pull untill whole face red, he also enlisted into elite forces

Honey, there is no real win-win situation in real life. It comes about by compromising and understanding. It takes someone to undertake a duty. A no one to decline huge responsibilities. If this country means nothing to you, if citizenship means nothing to you, my suggest is that, you air your views to the Presidents of the various countries, and note who dares to take you as a citizen. If this is your way of thinking, i'd say, all your years of schooling has been a total waste. You're leaving in Singapore, stepping on her soil, breathing her air. IF you're the ONLY child/son, you can forget about going there unless you sign on. Other than that, once you get your posting, either to BMT or Mono intake, you can ask for PC or OC preferrably, for a posting to CMdo or NDU.
As for SOF, you have to sign on in order to join. NSFs are not allowed in.
Just a couple of corrections, sk. First, CDO is direct intake - you do your BMT at Hendon camp. Second thing, the "only son" thing is just a myth - I'm an only son.
As for dying for my country, I'd rather not if that could be avoided. I do like George Patton's turn of phrase: "My job isn't to send our young men to die for their country - it's to make the other bastard's die for theirs". -
Yes, only sons can serve in cdo's but the ones I know of are all officers. You too right Ged?
