Suppose you have ORD by now. Your acute back injury should have recovered by now. If you still have problems with your back you will need to see your own GP and if necessary, your specialist outside MINDEF. You can always request to see your MO for a medical review if anything of significance turns up in civilian life. Remember to bring along a medical report from your doctor to see the MO.Originally posted by limpshaggy:Recently in camp, i slipped down a flight of staircase and afterwards i felt a sharp pain around my spine area. I have had problems bending over due to the pain. Currently i pes c9 perm. What should i do....my ord is mid october, should i see the MO and ask for reference to MMI?
Will I be downgraeded to PES E? Previosuly i was downgraded after an surgery on fractured elbow.
Unless the rules have been changed, C1 servicemen can be excused up to 2 stations depending on the nature of the medical condition. They must all do the 2.4km run though. If you are PES C1L2 for hypertension, there is no excuse from any station in general.Originally posted by loner1980:Hi, recently I m being downgraded to C1L2 from Pes B due to high blood pressure. May I know which station am I excused from IPPT?
Could be having gastro-esophagela reflux or dyspepsia. I don't think it's serious but you can see your MO if you are worried for a check-up. Are you under alot of stress?Originally posted by Sorceror:I am a NSman now but these few weeks, i have this recurring problem of difficulties of breathing like there's this gust of air in my throat that i can neither push it down or out...something like trying hard to burp but cant...feels like vomitting as well.....any diagnosis of what is happening to me???![]()
Think I responded to this in a different thread. Not knowing the exact medical condition, it is difficult to be specific. The MO will excuse a serviceman from certain activities if the medical illness requires it. Just because someone is excused from range on account of hearing loss does not mean he should be excused from drawing weapons as well.Originally posted by xxthunder:Hey!MO We need clarification on this matter:
For someone who is excused from range, weapons and ammounition permanently, yet posted to armour as a frontline storeman for reservist training.
If he is ordered by officers to draw arms for himself to follow training, does he has the right to refuse based on his medical board excuse chit. Can officers charged him based on disobeying direct orders from superior. Is his medical board excuse chit valid reason for doing so.

it is on context. he's posted to an armour unit as a frontline storeman. that means unit chiong sua, he also chiong sua. he'll have to draw arms, as well as draw ammo.
when i went wallaby last year, about a quarter of my platoon were excused outfield, weapons or range, and we all still had to go, we all had to draw arms, and we all had to draw blanks.
In situation like this, how can they protect themselves from uncalled-for attention.
Thanks for your valuable advice, and hope to see your reply soon.Have a good happy day!
Previous ligamentous injury to the wrist joint may make it easier to sprain the joint again. If confirmed by your MO and specialist, you can be boarded and given temporary downgrading. Physiotherapy to strengthen the muscles around the joint may help prevent future sprains. OOC is a decision your MO will have to make. You may be able to complete your course with excuse from certain activities and stations in IPPT.Originally posted by Don©:I sustained a pretty bad injury during my PTP and now i can't really move my right wrist. It swells up every now and then and I am on painkillers everyday. It was an old dislocation injury 5 yrs ago that caused my right wrist to be injury prone, and this is the 4th time i had injured it.
I was refered to a hand specialist at NUH by the MO and was told that it was most likely a torn ligament and inflammation around the wrist area. I was given a splint, 3 weeks of attend B and mid to long term hand therapy.
The qns is how can i complete my BMT with the injury, it hurts even before the injury when i tried to do chin ups and push ups or even lifting up the duffel bag. I sounded it to the MO at cmbp during my medical checkup but the MO didn't really bother and just asked a few qns.
I have difficulty adapting the use of my left hand to have my meals, area cleaning and other simple tasks. And everyday im at the sideline with other guys on status watching them train, which is pretty depressing.
Will I be OOC cos i really don't wanna keep retaking BMT my whole 2 years. Any advice?
Furthermore i'll be continuing my studies after NS and my course requires a fully working pair of hands. I'm afraid further injury or strain might eventually result in disablilty. I feel so down and out
You can see a private specialist and yes, the MO will note the comments of your specialist. Depending on the specialist's assessment, your MO may decide whether or not to board you. If he disagrees with the specialist recommendation, he will most likely refer you to a SAF orthopaedic surgeon for a second opinion.Originally posted by Camus:went polyclinic to see doc regarding my flat foot and he said that he dunno of any case that flat foot can be downgrade and initially refuse to give me a referal letter to specialist saying that they also cant do much except that they will only give me insole which is not useful to me in the long run but in the end he gave it to me. however my appointment is on 12/01/07 at TTS hospital. i need to settle this in 1-2 wks time. is there any other faster way to get to a specialist? do SAF take a private specialist recommendation into consideration?
any MO here that can give me any advice? coz the pain is somehow getting worse. hope that everything can be settle b4 i reach the combat phase of the medic course.
Ankylosing spondylitis is a genetically linked inflammatory disease of the spine. There is a familial association, linke to the HLA B27 genotype. First, the diagnosis must be confirmed by the rheumatologist. This condition is not that common and strict criteria have to be followed to confirm the diagnosis. If you do have the disease, then the specialist will have to assess the severity and the damage so far. That will decide how it may affect your training and PES grading.Originally posted by tu15:Hi MOs,
I'm diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis and will be referred to a rheumatologist soon for review and follow-ups.
May I know how this disease will affect military training and how SAF will classify this disease? Fit for combat vocations?
Thanks!![]()

If you alert your MO, he can write to KKH for a medical report. On the other hand, KKH may already have destroyed your old records since you haven't been seen for 8 years!Originally posted by queen09:I have a history of childhood epilepsy. The last outbreak was 8 years ago and I was treated at kkh. 2 weeks ago, I had another attack but I did not seek any medical attention.
