recently i got my vocation for the next 2+ years of ns : auto tech veh-c. i am not complaining .. but i would to to ask how could i have gotten a non-combat vocation? i am in pes b, silver for napfra, passed basically everything except the farked up soc. also i did not screw up badly in any form whether it was sit test, peer apprisal etc however my PC had mentioned during one of the interviews that i am a "tagged" case which he told me might affect my prospects of command school. is being "tagged" so serious to constitute to a PES C / E vocation? -

Sir,
Last week i went to pungol and catch carbs with some friend and i got poke by something on my left ankle while my leg was inside the sea. i feel pain and i see there was nothing and i carry on with my catch...
i went home and the next days my leg was swelling + around 5 CM X 5cm blister over aspect of left ankle over duration 1/7
no rupture of blister and no discharge seen no other sites of trauma
And made me hardly walk.. i went to A&E i was warded in hospital the on the same day til the night i was send to operation...

Are there cases whereby for whatever reason, for eg. unit short of manpower, that results in the higher ups instructing MOs not to downgrade people as easily as they normally would? -

yes, there are MOs under pressure from HQ of battalions to not downgrade easily. BUT there are 2 CPT MOs and a MAJ MO as chairman for any typical medical board, so no kind of "favouritism" behaviour. -

I think I need help. I am not sure if it is appropriate to post here, but I really need a place to vent out my thoughts.
I had been through 3 ICT, but my unit is already in its 7th ICT. But whenever I received the SAF100, I feel very stress and depress (which I guess is normal). However, I think I am getting worst.
Coming September, I have a MUT for the my 4th ICT I missed in May. I purposely quit my job so as to find a new job, using that as an excuse to skip the May ICT. (I would be quitting anyway, just bring forward the resignation date).
I managed to find a new job (after almost 3 months) and deferred the ICT. During that 3 month, I was so stressed with the coming ICT and can't find a job, I really am going to give up and bang wall and hurt myself so that I can find excuse to defer the ICT.
Then I quit the job after 2 weeks because not suitable. As I was still finding another job, this SAF100 for MUT in September arrived about 3 weeks ago. This time I am totally not in the mood to find a job. I have been lazing around these 3 weeks and doing nothing, feeling depress and sad most of the times, sleeping irregularly, losing appetite, cooped myself at home and do not feel like going out unless necessary, irritated at my wife and children very easily, etc. All I think of most of the times is how to skip the MUT. It is affecting my life, career and financially.
Failing to find a job + coming MUT, I am really totally stressed out! Whenever the thought of going back for reservist come to my mind, I can feel my heart palpitating.
I am even contemplating of getting a new jobs every time the SAF100 arrived so that I can skip the ICT, or even worse, finding ways to get myself downgraded and released from the army forever.
Is there a problem with me? What can I do? -

I am fine with the first job, with the company for about 2 years, was thinking its time for me to move on, so I bring forward the resignation so as to find a new job and use new employment as a reason to skip the ICT in May. But even though I am quite happy during my time with the 1st company, I still feel down and out whenever I received the SAF100.
The 2nd one was more of a rush decision, it came about 2 weeks before the start of the May ICT, so I just take it and try out how the job is like, but mainly to skip the ICT. I started the new job on the same day the May ICT started, but I quit after 2 weeks. Not because the ICT is over, but because I find the job not suitable for me.
I didn't know the the SAF100 for the MUT would come so fast, came 2 weeks after the ICT ended. I was initially looking for new job after I quitted the 2nd one, but totally lost the mood to do so after receiving the SAF100.
Prior to this ICT, I also feel very reluctance to go for the past ICT, which I think this is normal like everyone else. But as every year the SAF100 come, I feel more and more reluctance, and this time round, to the extend of quitting my job early without even trying to find a new job first. That is akin to sacrificing my career just to skip reservist. I am a degree holder by the way. I really do not know what I will do next. -

The MO told me I don't need to attend the medical board (just like you predicted haha). Does this mean higher chance of downgrade?
And something slightly unrelated...do you know if the higher ups would wait for my new pes status to be confirmed before posting me to my new vocation or unit? Because I don't even know when my medical board is conducted (I heard there's one per month?) yet I've heard that the OC and S1 have already started working on the postings for those who OOCed from the course (which includes me...) -

the routine medical board is typically once a month conducted for guards formation at dieppe barracks medical centre, for all cases of nsf, regulars, even reservists.
posting out orders is served only new pes is comfirmed. they prob just getting the vacanies available... when new pes comes, then sort out. if u r in guards formation, most prob posting is also within guards formation. either in bedok camp, or post out to hq guards/ 21 div hq at dieppe barracks near chong pang town. unless really post out no choice then go to other units in other formation/camps. -

I've heard that CPC is only involved if I get posted out of my unit and not if my unit wants to keep hold of me. -

Dear Sir,
I enlisted 2 months ago as a pes A soldier in enhanced BMT. During the last 2 weeks of BMT there's this stinging pain that I always feel on the interior side of my thigh area whenever I run and my left hip bone feels a little disjointed as well. I am quite sure it's not a muscle problem as it doesn't heal at all and never fails to come back whenever I run. The pain gets worse under increasing intensity/pace of running such as the case after my 2.4 run where I was limping back after my run. I'm quite sure that I have injured it in someway or another during the last phase of BMT because this has never bothered me during my first 7 weeks in BMT. Right now this problem has persisted even till today and it's been around a month or so since the pain started. I did not report to the MO in fear that I would get some status and would be excused from POPing, which I do not wish to be excused from having cleared the whole of BMT.
As I cleared my IPPT and expressed interest, I was called up for FFI and I declared this problem in fearing that it would hinder my training in SISPEC, should I get posted to there, because this problem doesn't seem to cure on its own even after a week or so of resting (as the last 2 weeks of BMT didn't really comprise of much intensive physical activity), and hence I failed my FFI and was certified unfit for command school. I thought that in this way, I'd be posted to a service unit since it clearly states on my FFI that I experience "pain while running", but the problem now lies that I've been posted to my new unit as a pioneer in Combat Engineer, and under the intensive training of running everyday (today is my first book out), my problem comes back again and I'm pretty much limping after every run.
I've already sounded off to my commanders but no action has been taken so far. Furthermore, I never had a thorough checkup on my leg before and I cannot say for sure what the problem is. So I would like to seek the advice of the MO here on what should my next step be. I hope to find out more of my problem and if it can be aggravated through progressing running, I hope to be excused and posted from these training as I don't want to risk further injuring my leg. Currently, I'm contemplating visiting a polyclinic tomorrow morning to get a specialist referral for some kind of a checkup so that I wouldn't have to report sick inside camp as it's a tiresome process.
Would this be a reasonable approach or am I taking matters into my own hands? Please advise ASAP and thank you for your time. -
YES, a medical condition is needed to be checked asap! Your intented actions tmr is very reasonable.
Proceed to get the hospital specialist referral thru the polyclinic early tmr morning.
Also try to get a memo letter from the polyclinic to show your unit medical centre MO for his review to temporary excuse you from any lower limbs activities for a few days/weeks, should be granted till the date of hospital specialist appointment.
Thereafter, when you see the hospital specialist, request for a MRI scan to thoroughtly scan your pelvis bone and thigh area. You might have rupture some nerves and tissues around the area. Do you feel some tinging sensation and slight numbness? If so, most probably you had injured the nerves there. There is a major lower limb Sciatic nerve that runs thru the pelvis bone down thru your both legs. Seriously major medical problem if so.
Even if you OOC from your pioneer course, fret not. Just take it as it is.
Your commanders are not medically trained like doctors, they just always thought, "Chay.... this guy just feel more lethargic/fatigue than others after excerising la... rest for a while can liao la...". -
Thanks for your reply, I went to the polyclinic this morning and they sort of told me to go take the X-ray the next week but the thing is my commanders told me last-minute appointments won't be entertained...so I'll just see how it goes in the meantime then.
My leg just feels a little weak whenever I raise it and a stinging pain comes by when my feet touches the ground when I run. That's all I know for now. -

Anyway assuming something does happen and I need to get posted out, is it possible to request for a posting to be a medic? Does the MO have the authority to reccomend postings? Because I don't really wanna waste my two years doing/gaining nothing from it and I think being a medic would really teach me a lot. -

another thing, x ray shows little or no proof of injury to nerves and veins and arteries. x ray only good and useful for diagnosis of bones and quick emergency diagnosis in A&E. only CAT or MRI scan will they show up these minor detailed details of the body parts. -

Yeah I guess so...but it's kinda a waste to just let the 2 years fly by like that without gaining anything much from it. Oh well.
