Rogue13. Following is based on my experience(i am from Amour unit).
1) You are correct. Reservist MO will see their Reservist experience. I have a friend who has a slipped disc. It was only detected during the MRI scan not thru the X-Ray
2) Having asked around. The cost of non-subsidized MRI scan is $600 but need some admin charges will become cost to $700.

the lumbar (lower back) scan is the most important. for the upper and middle spinal scan, well... let the hospital specialist decides... -

3. So wad if the result comes? Wad will the result state? Will i be able to change vocation immediately? Any follow-ups be done?

2) medical board meets r typically held once a month within the formation.
3) the admin time to revocation IF THE MEDICAL BOARD GRANTS IT will take some time as the medical board result will need to give to the manpower branch (s1 branch). then to revocate within the same unit, camp, formation or totally transfer/post out.. all depends on s1 branch liao... so after medical board... must chase after the s1 branch people already. -

go for the scan, get hosptial specialist mc, come back in pro then go mo to endorse for the rest of the ict period. the best option available for ict <2wks away and the cost saving vs private hospital....
Btw, when u say go for the scan, get specialist mc, go back in-pro then go MO to endorse, issit do-able? cuz i don't think i will get the scan on the 1st appt, prolly due to having to queue.. So if that's the case, will the specialist write something like "light duties till MRI scan"? And if so, will the camp reservist MO "honour" it?

I have not done my scan. Will try to get it done soon. Busy time for me
with both work and studies commitment atm.
I dun know whether you will get a scan on your first appointment (need
a doctor who is familiar with the procedures to answer that).
But anyway even if you do get to scan on your first appointment, it will
also take a week or more for the radiologist people to "develop and
read" your scan. So there is no difference.
Most likely explain the situation to the MO and they will give you some
status. IMO, it is high likely that the MO will honor the specialist's recommendation. -

yes, he/she will write that chit down into the memo to the saf mo for endorsement. of course the memo will get endorsed... reservist mo too r reservists... they will understand. not all reservist mo r on the ball one... whether they r GPs or hosptial doctors... will seen some fair share... relax -

Yupx, its a memo from my specialist, indicating the diagnosis, wad will cause it to worsen and her recommendation for me to change to a office job..

hi doc,
i have been going to my AH specialist for a sharp pain of the bone in my left bum for the past few months, the pain is right inside the bum at the bone area, where the leg and hip meets.
i had an xray and bonescan done by him, both suggesting "something" at that area. i forgot what's the name.
everytime i finished a run or done fast walk, the pain will be sharp at the bone and at times i cannot even stand straight.
now, my specialist has been providing me with paracethemol with coedine to ease the pain.
1 month ago, i have a mc from him excusing me from IPPT for 3 months.
Now today, i just recieved my Make up Training for my ICT in 5th January -14th Feb.
1. Should I see my doc again to ask him to give me an mc to excuse me from the ict? If not, what do you think I can ask him for ?
2. Should I gather all the x-rays results ..etc from him and report to my MO with the hope of getting a deferment or better, a review?

I just saw a specialist in SGH orthopaedic dept who is a Prof. He gave me a simple computer printed memo with a one-liner :" Excuse running & field training" for the period now till after my ICT. He mentioned I could be suffering from slipped disc and ordered an MRI for me, which is scheduled in Jan, after my ICT. Do you think the camp MO will endorse it?
PS. To play safe I made this appointment ie. non-subsidised, instead of going for the subsidised appt on the 1st day of ICT) But worry not for me cuz my company is co-paying -

Since your letter is from a specialist, then the MO is mostly likely to endorse it.
A few question:
1) Did the doctor send you to do a X-ray? Or did he just recommend a MRI scan immediately?
2) Secondly, how did he check your back??

I brought my x-ray which i took that time in polyclinic to him (remember i mentioned i got referred from poly to SGH for my subsidised appt at SGH on 1st day of coming ICT? I had an x-ray taken at the poly then).Originally posted by mark_136:Rogue13

But the Prof did not mention anything about the x-ray. Prolly x-rays can't really show much?
He checked my back by asking me to do turns/twists and bends. He also asked me lie on back to check my core muscles i think.
There's also reflex tests ie. using the small hammer thingy to knock my knees and ankles.
Because there was an understudy with him, he then mentioned to him I could be having slipped disc and so told me he will gimme an MRI.
Btw , does "excuse running & field training" means "win liao"? As in it's like excuse almost everything liao? (this question is also directed to eac)

Lumbar MRI scan costs about 700 at SGH. That is without contrast. With contrast will cost about 1000. According to the nurse, before the MRI, they will check whether u need to be injected with something to make the MRI image come out more visible. So contrast prolly means "injecting colouring substance".
The above is my understanding from wat the nurse briefly told me; i am not expert on this
