yes, as WP has said it, having a govt/private specialist letter/report do help a big lot. so go get it...
Originally posted by ClarkKent:thanks for the fast reply. I'm actually a rifleman; so dealing with both hands is a must, does my injury warrant a C9 status? What about the L code? do you know of the possible vocations switch?
c9 is very doubtful for ur pinky finger condition..... if medical board gives u c2, u can be relieved liao... no ippt to take, even reservist time....
anything else u just wait for ur medical board...
i am already given pes B , so if i get a specialist letters , should i go down straight to cmpb to show them the letters or i have to book and appointment with them? and can u also recommend me psoriasis specialist? because i only gone to a private polyclinic to see my psoriasis and the doctor is just like a normal doctor treating all the illness.

best is u call the ns.sg customer service 1800-3676767 as u r a pre-enlistee.
u just go to any govt. polyclinic, and ask for a referral to any govt. hospital to see a hospital specialist.
if i got a specialist letter , then when i go down cmpb and show the MO will he give me a downgrade to pes C?
Originally posted by Resentment:if i got a specialist letter , then when i go down cmpb and show the MO will he give me a downgrade to pes C?
dude, ultimately its what the specialist wrote and the mo in cmpb will review...
but then , this few days i applied my medicine and most of the rashes are gone , shld i stop medication now and let the rashes come back then go to a polyclinic for referral? and are the chances high for a down pes if i shown the MO the specialist letter?

supported with a specialist letter, a downgrade is on the high side.
go polyclinic get referral, bring along ur medications and tell doctor the medication now not so working liao... and get a referral, no need to stop medication...
ok , i fully understand now , sorry for asking so many question MO , thanks for everything. =)) you are a patient MO and moderator =)
sorry last question for the MO , can i ask if i go to a polyclinic to ask for referral to a specialist , do i need to see the doctor in the polyclinic? or just ask them for referral to hospital without seeing the doctor?
ok i just went to the polyclinic just now , and already have the referral letter to NUH , so when i go and see the specialist , should i just ask him for the letter for my army? or what?
Originally posted by Resentment:ok i just went to the polyclinic just now , and already have the referral letter to NUH , so when i go and see the specialist , should i just ask him for the letter for my army? or what?
summaries ur medical conditions to the specialist doctor there. pls bring along ur relevant supporting documents u already have in hand... to show the specialist...
even if in ur mind u want a downgrade, dun blatantly ask for a downgrade letter to be given to the saf mo... be discreet in ur words to the specialist... e.g. condition worsen due to saf work environment... etc.
tell him/her that u need a memo/letter/report to show the saf camp mo... and the doctor will noe what to do... u will get a memo/letter to be given to the camp mo when u go to medical centre to endorse specialist memo.
what u mean supporting documents? the one which MO give me the letter for my pes status or what?
Originally posted by Resentment:what u mean supporting documents? the one which MO give me the letter for my pes status or what?
yes... whatever whatsoever documents, medications taken and dosage... anything documents that explains ur present medical condition...
dun mind me saying... i'm a direct person... but sometimes... ur paranoid questions starts to irk me... though i try my best to provide help here... thank you.
hi all. i'm currently pre-enlistee, pes status
C1L1. excuse is upper limbs due to compound fracture of right elbow and
dislocated shoulder before.
recently in january i have a back injury which caused me not being able
to walk properly and stand properly. after 1 or 2 days i was able to
walk and stand properly. but now i'm unable to bend my back unless i
place my hands on my legs for support and i am also unable to do sit
ups anymore.
is it advisable to go back to cmpb to ask for downgrade?
hopefully the MO doesn't think i'm doing a chao keng because when i
went down for my first medical checkup the MO gave me that "chao keng
kia" face at me when i showed him my doctor's letter.
also another question is my pes status letter says i'm C1L1 but there
is no writing or whatsoever as to what excuse i'm in C1L1. i'm quite
worried because if i enlist and i go into BMT with that letter. will
they think i've no excuses at all?
hope there'll be some advices from the people here. thanks

since u r pre-enlistee who already reported at cmpb. u r advised to call up 1800-3676767 for a request to re-appt another cmpb checkup to submit additional supporting medical documents.
generally, even if got chance to re-appt, use mouth say only carry no values since u r a 'pre-enlistee' status. its better to get hold of concrete proof. e.g. hospital discharge summary, specialist letter/memo.
else, just wait till u get ur enlistment letter and show the documents to the medical centre there.
just sound out to ur instructors, sergeants and officer in charge if they ask...

alright. thanks for the reply! would like to know what is the best possible course of action currently? i'm afraid if i down pes now. it'll further delay my enlistment as i've heard from various sources that if you down pes before enlistment it'll actually delay the time you enlist into the army.

as explained... call up ns.sg 1st to see if can re-appt again for unreported additional new medical conditions...
then, get hold of medical proof in black and white.

Hi eac, i need to ask a quick question. I am an nsmen.
Couple of months ago i asked you for some advice. What happened was i sprained my left thumb very badly last Dec. Subsequently i went to see a govt specialist and in February this year, my reservist unit gave me an excuse ippt for 3 months. Reason was because i failed my ippt for last year so needed an excuse letter to defer my RT.
So my reservist unit took my excuse letter into consideration, and have booked me for RT in August.
The thing is my thumb is still extremely weak, i think because i've sprained it many times since i was a kid. I'm planning to see a private specialist that i used to go to in the past to access the situation. Question is, if the specialist decides to gives me a temporary downgrade, let's say 6 months, will the memo "override" the RT schedule and my RT liabilities for this year? I'm asking this because i need to acknowledge and send back the letter within 7 days.
Thanks for your advice.

the private specialist will at best, issue u a recommendation letter addressed to the saf mo for medical board pending downgrade. he can't downgrade u at his own authority.
if successful downgrade, or most likely an extension of the excuse ippt for another few more months plus the current 3 months excuse, u will have to submit a copy of the mc to ur reservist unit to defer the rt for ur current window.

simple, on ur next appt with the hospital specialist / podiatrist, ask him to write a memo to the saf camp mo to explain ur condition... then its up to the camp mo to decide...eg. whether to excuse boots for a couple of weeks or to submit a case statement for a KIV pending medical board meet.
thank you for your advise.i will keep that in mind and see how my appt goes.hope they will be able to help alleviate the pain on my feet.
gd day.
Hello MO,
I would like to ask for advise regarding issues on my health problems. I have breathing difficulty for more than one year. And Im an NSF who have been already serving for a few months. Im a PES A. I did not voice out this problem during the medical checkup.
Recently, my breathing problem got worst and i started to see a govt specialist. I do not know the root problem of my breathing difficulty and the doctor i see told me that it may be due to psychological disorders, which caused my body to feel hungry for oxygen.
My problem of breathing difficulty affects my training as it cause me to feel panicky at times when i am gasping for air. At night, i will also feel breathless when i lie down and hence have difficulty sleeping. At times, i may just wake up feeling that i have not enough air. I also have difficulty during and after pt and also even when im sitting down doing nothing.
I would like to ask for advise:
1) whether this is a physical or mental problem?
2) whether i should stop seeing my specialist and see a psycharist instead?
3) what can i do to help ease my anxiety of being unable to breathe?
4) will i be down-ed PES due to this medical problem?
5) what can i do if this problem continue to persist?
Thank you MO. Im very worried about my health. This problem occured suddenly about 1 year ago and have not subsided since only worsen. Iam troubled and feel very irritated and fatigue about this. Please help me.
