I would like to ask for advise regarding issues on my health problems. I have breathing difficulty for more than one year. And Im an NSF who have been already serving for a few months. Im a PES A. I did not voice out this problem during the medical checkup.
Recently, my breathing problem got worst and i started to see a govt specialist. I do not know the root problem of my breathing difficulty and the doctor i see told me that it may be due to psychological disorders, which caused my body to feel hungry for oxygen.
My problem of breathing difficulty affects my training as it cause me to feel panicky at times when i am gasping for air. At night, i will also feel breathless when i lie down and hence have difficulty sleeping. At times, i may just wake up feeling that i have not enough air. I also have difficulty during and after pt and also even when im sitting down doing nothing.
I would like to ask for advise:
1) whether this is a physical or mental problem?
2) whether i should stop seeing my specialist and see a psycharist instead?
3) what can i do to help ease my anxiety of being unable to breathe?
4) will i be down-ed PES due to this medical problem?
5) what can i do if this problem continue to persist?Thank you MO. Im very worried about my health. This problem occured suddenly about 1 year ago and have not subsided since only worsen. Iam troubled and feel very irritated and fatigue about this. Please help me.

Your case is sound more like a mental problem...but you still have to visit the MO 1st.....
Hi Sir,

Everytime outfield my back and face sure become jia lat jia lat. Now the scars and acne on my face and back already quite alot.
Scalp problem is a history problem before enlistment but has came back recently. Still consider minor as it was worst previously. Will itch and become painful now and then.

hello MO
i am diagnosed with Hyperacusis in NUH ENT
The doctor wrote a memo to my camp MO asking to revocate me since it is not a downgradable condition in the directive.
I also went to MMI ENT and the doctor never really do any checks on me. He just read the NUH letters and excused me
1) Loud Noise Environment perm
2) Excuse explosive perm
3) have to go live firing (wear ear protection)
I did not argue with the MMI MO because i did not know what status he gave me.
But after reading the slip, i find myself in an awkward situation. Because of the live firing part.
My condition got very bad after 2 exercises within 2weeks.
A company exercise and ATP Live firing after that.
The MMI ENT don't even know how it happened and he still want me to go for live firing -.-
How can i request to change my status

very simple...
find camp mo to review again... explaining ur recent excercises made ur condition worsen... describe to him...
and find specialist for another review to request him to write a more hard worded letter. show him the saf medical board mc...

its dependable on acne vulgaris severity... most likely its pes b only. i suggest go get referral letter either thru polyclinic or camp mo to see any govt hospital skin specialist or national skin centre... then see doctor/specialist ask for memo to show saf camp mo to get an excuse for camo cream...
or go to the eminent punggol clinic at hougang ave 3, near SRJC. its famed for acne medication, skin wash lotion and night cream.

1) asking here will not help. go see doctor/specialist. if after all that tests done is not due to any illness, then its most highly likely mental illness.
2) play safe for ur own good. see both. ask mo/hospital specialist for referral to see psychiatrist.
3) deep slow inhale/exhale breathing, just like mediation... cool down breathing exercise
4) unless u get documented qualified specialist diagnosis (govt/private hospital specialist letter/memo/report/support documents), then the camp mo will write and put up ur case statement for a KIV medical board meet pending to discuss pes status.
5) very obivous self-answerable question... see qualified professional help... medical doctor, psychiatrist or even a counsellor...

ask ur specialist to write a memo to the camp mo abt the itch and pain, and to write the memo sounding like a 'revocate to a non-outfield' work environment. its general depends on how the specialist write the memo.e.g. usage of 'stronger words'. some govt. hospital specialists r good and kind enough, but if u r desperate, then spend some good money on private specialists.
do note that the specialist can only recommend, and if the camp mo is kind enough to help u to temporary excuse u outfield for a few weeks while put up ur case statement for medical board review.
Hi, have been diagnoised with Chondromalacia Patella in both knees, with positive patella grind test.. could this result in a down-pes?
as my govt hospital spec only wrote 'please excuse accordingly'.. should I see a private specialist then?

Excuse IPPT 6/12 then back to Pes B

yes, downgradeable on a case by case basic depending on which part of the body, how severity, how %...etc.
IN SHORT, ALL DOWNGRADE CASES NEED SUPPORT OF DOCUMENTS SUCH AS SPECIALIST MEDICAL REPORT/MEMO/SCAN REPORT... ETC. FROM EITHER GOVT OR PRIVATE HOSPITAL...
Hello Sir,
last week I was deemed unfit for course from a particular leadership course and was refered to a specialist for further treatment. I was deemed unfit from course because I have a soft lump of tissue growing on the top of each foot, somewhat close to the ankle. This has cause my feet a lot of pain whenever I participate in any long or high intensity run. It has gotten so bad that I am even having difficulty walking after a certain period of time. I often find myself resorting in walking with the side of my foot to ease the pain. My calves are also giving me several problems as well such as numbness and strain. there are mornings when i wake up with a sharp unbearable pain on my right calve which last for several minutes.
however the shocking part about this whole incident was...just two day after being ooced from this leadership course, I was posted to another combat unit as an infantry recce trooper. this totally shocked me as I have yet to see the specialist refered to me by the MO yet. it does not make sense for me to be posted to another combat unit when i was just occed from a combat course due to my leg problem.
i am certain that i would not be able to cope with the training as well as i am already in pain whenever i walk. please advice me on what to do. thank you.

so simple... since u r in another camp, then go report sick at your new unit camp medical centre. show whatever u have to the mo there. the mo can always refer to your medical records via the share intranet medical info system... show ur specialist appt card to him and try to get an excuse lower limb/RMJ activities till ur specialist appt for the time being.
i am still in the same camp lol so the mo is the same and he's not exactly someone that is approachable lol.
basically i was posted to another unit in the exact same camp. there is only 1 mo in this camp and he could not evaluate what the cause of my leg problem was yet he still wanted me to press on with the training. his logic was...if i could cope with BMT, I can cope with the current training.
The problem is..i was from a moderate obese company so the training pace and intensity was much lesser then my current pace. the maximum we would do is a 2 km slow jog or brisk walk. plus i had already highlighted this issue to my pc and the mo. but in fear of being made to recourse BMT, i didnt press on with it.

then if u dun wanna see the mo, next step is to have an private interview with ur new recce pc. pc cannot, find oc...
yeah guess i don't have any other choice. thanks a lot for the advice. appreciate it. god bless.
Hi, I'm a pre-enlistee about to sign up for my medical checkup. A few questions have been bugging me, and I would appreciate it if someone could clarify them for me. Thanks in advanced!
I have been diagnosed with depression resulting from my generalized anxiety disorder/panic attacks when I was in secondary school, and have seen three different psychiatrists and been prescribed with different medications for both depression and anxiety (prozac and xanax). However, due to certain complications, I did not consult these psychiatrists on a long-term basis, and have not been on their prescribed medication. As a result of these problems, I missed one year of secondary school.
The next year I began secondary three a year overaged, but was faced with the same problems. However, this time I managed to work things out, with the school counsellor, after a turbulent four months, without having seen any external psychiatrists, and hitherto things have been running rather smoothly; I am now in JC2.
However, I am still prone to excessive panic attacks and anxiety; it's just that they are not as often as they were in secondary school as I have managed to acclimatize to my current situation in life. In fact, I would say that I pretty much feel 'normal' right now, but I fear that the stability of my condition due to the routine of school life that I have gotten used to would be shaken once I enter NS, and my anxiety attacks would start to intensify, resulting in depression and all that again.
Hence, I am wondering if I should bring this issue up during my medical check-up, or if I should keep it to myself, and only alert the relevant personnel if my condition is triggered and exacerbated in NS?
Once again, thanks for any help!

please kindly declare any past medical history/alerts to the cmpb doctor. there is a possibility of a relapse while in ns, so it's better to declare ur past psychological history even though it is deemed stable at present. there is no harm to report b4 enlistment. bring along ur past appt cards, any psychiatrist report/memo, medication prescription forms if u have to show the the cmpb mo as proof. if possible, try to obtain a written memo from ur attending hospital specialists b4 reporting for the medical checkup.
summaries ur medical conditon in the pre-enlistee online e-documentation medical questionaire registration form upon receiving the registration details via post.
Hi Sir. I would like to enquire on a rather peculiar 'illness' if you may put it. I'm 18 this year, suffering from colour blindness, night blindness and audio-visual synesthesia. Recently I've only talked to psychologists and councellors about this 'conditition', being able to perceive sounds as colors. I'm a music student majoring in Composition too. Altho it really gets in the way when I was younger, I've learnt to live with it. However I would like to ask if such a 'condition' would be considered in the medical screening, as I did not include it in the questionaire, not knowing which category it would fall under. Thanks.

yes, all declared conditions is recorded into the medical info system. u still have the chance to declare at cmpb doctor. more info at the pes thread. in the questionaire, there is a 'others, please specify' box...
Yes I know I stated colour and night blindness there. but i dont even know if synaesthesia is even an illness or a disease (utterly lost). Also I only have this small cert saying I'm colour blind (from ages ago when i'm younger). Do i need a specialist cert or something for night blindness too?

no need for night blindness.
just tell the cmpb doctor honestly abt all ur conditons: colour & night blindess AND synaesthesia.
he will determine ur pes either on the spot to u, or submit ur case for a medical board pes review, whereby u will receive ur official pes by post.
don't risk ur health for this 2 yrs and affect ur health for the rest of ur life.
i jus had an operation done to improve my blocked nose. govt specialist offered mi an temp downgrade for 6 months. i showed memo to my MO n he jus gave mi light duties cos he claimed dat after op procedure is to just endose any MC/status given.
