Hypertension enquiry
I have been down with hypertension and have been on medication for some years.
My pressure reading systolic is in constant 130ish-140ish, and diastolic is at least 90, currently on medication.
Experience giddiness when switching position eg. from sitting position to standing, the giddiness can extend up to a minute.
I got a memo from my clinic doc regarding the diagnosis and the medication, do I need any other document when I go for a medical review? What should I tell the MO or just pass him the memo would be sufficient.

Give memo to MO,
+ medications to just show as proof.
MO might ask about the condition history and how you cope, in particularly with precious ICTs...etc.
Note: There are previous hypertension (high blood pressure) Q&A here. Please search for them using those common words.
Hello Guys,
I would like to know :
1 ) What is the difference between a memo and a medical report? What are the things that are inside a medical report which cannot be found inside a memo? Eg, spec opinion, recommendation, etc
2 ) Is there any way we can appeal to a MB decision? Will going to an MP with medical report helps in the appeal? Assuming my condition will endanger others if i am not revocated.
Tks.

memo is an informal (impromptu) note. very brief.
specialist memo = FOC during consult.
report is a formal letter. more details like u mentioned.
specialist report (ordinary) = $80 and above during consult.
thanks rednano. i requested for medical report.
i would like to know if it will include spec opinion n recommendation.will MB more willing to agreed with it than a memo?

specialist opinion related to army is usually not included in official medical report which you pay for because report is supposed to state conditions and details officially, and is just providing an insight of how your condition is. it will then depend on the MB doctors to decide based on the report.
memo as Rednano mentioned is impromptu note, which the doctor will usually write their recommendations related to army cos you specifically requested the docftor to write a memo for a particular purpose (be it to request change of vocation or anything), and he/she is kind enough to comply.

Thank you YQNG. i received the medical report from SGH and it includes recommendation to revocate me. I don't know how helpful it is to me, but i will still pass to MO to revocate me.

its because u have already informed the specialist to write specifically for revocation and medical board.
others, DO note that there are different specialist report formats for specific reasons, and the charges differ too...
e.g. specialist report (ordinary), specialist report (2nd opinion), permanent disability assessment report...etc...etc.
Hi,
I have some enquiries. I am born with my right hand, second finger naturally shorter than my left hand. Just 3/4 of the normal length. I have past experience in handling rifle during my npcc days, where i could not reach the trigger. Did show to cmpb Mo, and he is unsure if i could touch the trigger too. Was prone to skin allery (big red patches around whole body if infected) too. Therefore im posted to pes C1 L2.
Would like to ask if i have to report my finger problem again during my bmt? What will i be doing if reported?
Thanks a lot.

should be no need to report to medical centre again, BUT must inform commanders... highlight to sergeants and officers.
even if reported, u will not be doing less things in the 7weeks modified bmt in a pes C bmt company... maybe... except with the possible of excuse range, other else... nothing much, there r other more serious pes C problems than do...
Ok. Noted. Thanks a lot for your information. Deeply Appreciated.
Thanks again.

lazy eye PES?

lazy eye PES?
Eyes given 3/H rating in 1989 but overall PES is PES B.
Eyes is the strange one, rating of 3 can be PES B or PES C.
wha still got hope... scare me thought PES E... ![]()
Hmm, any idea what eysight degree will cause one to downpes to pes c? currently my eyesight is like near to 900.
learn to have cock eyes... in camp do the crossed eyes syndrome. sure pes c or e ...
haha cock eyes. scarly later do le do le really become cocked eyes for life. LOL!
In 1989, the eye M.O. tested my eyesight by asking me to wearing stereo polarization vision glasses and looking at a special board. Certain objects will appear to be higher or lower in height if the person has normal stereo vision. This is suppose to test for lazy eyes / cock eyes, the theory being that if a person has lazy eyes/cock eyes, certain stereo objects cannot see as only 1 eye is active. The board has certain objects that appears to be stereo even without wearing the special glasses, to weed out fake replies.

not sure whether this is still in use or not. most of the time now is always refer to hospital eyes specialist
the standard test use in medical centre is the standard lightbox type that r commonly found in your spectacles shops.
Hi MO, 2 quick questions regarding IPPT for nsmen.
I read this from ns.sg - "However, you can only be exempted from the annual IPPT if you have a 6 months consecutive or 9 months cumulative of valid medical excuse within the same IPPT qualifying window." In this case, who should i contact if i want to request to be exempted from annual IPPT?
Also, i understand that "You are advised to contact your NS Unit to request for a medical review if you have more than 3 months of medical excuse for a particular injury that prevents you from taking your IPPT."
I have 6 months of cumulative medical excuse and have been to a medical review at my ns unit in august. The MO has requested for a medical board for me (in absence). However it has been almost 2 months and i have not received any call or letter. When i called the unit, the person said that the medical board might take 3-5 months to process and that it is not in their procedure to inform nsmen of when the medical board will take place, only that we will receive a letter after the board has convened.
Is this correct?
The reason i ask this is because my specialist recommended to excuse me from IPPT for 9 months, and when i went for the review, the MO said he will give me "3 months first" and sent me for medical board. What if the medical board comes back unfavourable, can i appeal?
Thank you.
