Hi Sir,
Didn't know there was such a forum, otherwise I'd have joined sooner. I'm probably be going for NS MO checkup soon, need some advice.
I have pretty severe exercise induced asthma, had it since young, hasn't left me yet. I regularly fail NAPFA and my 2.4 cause of it (early BMT here I come...). Currently on steriods and inhaler daily.
So what pes will I probably go into and how will that affect my career, I've heard that a lower pes will adversely affect your job and stuff.
Thanks
oops, just realized they don't answer pes status here, nevermind, I'll find out about it when the checkup comes I guess.
Just wanted to ask, how about medical records for the checkup. I understand that for asthmatics theres the treadmill test, followed by a lung function. I've already done that last year, so do I get those records, or do I just repeat the test during the checkup.
Also, how do I approach by docs (whom I visit every 3 months) for medical records or writing statements (and what should I ask them to write?). Everytime I mention it, they glare at me like I want to keng, which irritates me like hell.
Forgot to mention, I'm also allergic to quite alot of drugs (practically almost all antibiotics. And I got short stature, as in damn short, like 1.5m short.
Thanks a lot
Hi, sir.
i was dignosed with fibula fracture n was downgraded to C2L2 for 6 months.
i was on top of that i was also dignosed with depression n anxiety disorder and excuse arms permanantly and downgraded to C1L9 for 1 year. On top of that, i was hospitalised ttsh due to very rare(i tink only i kenna) side effects of antidepressant call viepax (venlafamine) , like tremors, nausea, giddiness and my CK raised up to 7335! It causes rhadomylysis(breaking down of muscle). i stopped the antidepressant from den n got lots of withdrawl symptoms.....
my private psychaitrist is still investigating the cause of the rhadomylosis and told me dat my body cannot take SNRI, so he prescribe me another antidepressant, a SSRI call lexapro, which also causes lots of side effects like nausea, dry mouth, giddiness, constipation etc... i am highly dependant on medicine on antidepressant, sleeping pills and xanax.... one day only eat one meal.
yar, last nov i went for appendicitis and all dis medical condition make me very weak..
So can someone pls tell me

PES B, since asthma is common nowadays.
No effect on civilian career after ORD.

Please give whatever supporting medical documents that you have in hand to the CMPB MO, for his reference.
To get a specialist memo, go here:
http://www.sgforums.com/forums/1390/topics/315224
List down all allergies in the online medical questionnaire when you register for NS at www.ns.sg , so that they can be keyed into the Mindef's Medical Records System.
Despite all the above mentioned by you, it's still a high probability of PES B.

- am i Pes C2L2 or C1L9, or can i request a lower pes?
- how do i cope with the side effects in army?
- how long will i need to recover?
1) You are C2L2 6 months now. But once this expires, then you are on C1L9 for the remaining duration of that 1 year in the PES letter.
You can request for a PES review, provided with a recent specialist/psychatrist memo.
2) Your own willpower. With support from your psychatrist and the camp MO. Also, you can opt to speak to your Chief Clerk and S1 Manpower officer.
3) Besides medicines and family support, recovery is on your own willpower and self determination.

As Rednano had pointed out, you may seek for a 2nd opinion from another specialist.
You maybe given excuse physical activities for some weeks, if you see the camp MO again.
Without a specialist memo with a diagnosis, it's highly unlikely for the MO to put up a case statement for a medical board review.
Originally posted by Takizawa.kizoku:so if the specialist aren’t able to figure out anything, i would have to just bear with the pain thru my whole ns? plus i went to the specialist bout more then a month ago…
I'm afraid so.
There must be supporting medical documents in order for the MO to write a case statement for a PES review to the Medical Board.
Originally posted by Takizawa.kizoku:thanks. but one last thing i want to ask… i’ve been having this slight blood shot eye for few weeks… initially was very red, but this week it nets totally heal… i want admitted to sickbay twice for sore eye, fearing the third time staying in sickbay( which is not a good experience as i get more sick) i reported sick for fever only which i’ve been having for the past 2days… my temperature fluctuates reaching highest 38. 6 degree, but when i went to mo, my temperature is only 37.5 thus i was given some fever medication and att b for 2days. then again my company disregard for att b many a time asking those on status to do strenous stuffs. my question is why do my temp keep fluctuating and also when does the mo decide to put someone to sickbay, att c or b…
You may have:
taken some medicine before hand, such as Panadol,
environmental temp change, e.g. air-con vs non air-con room temperature,
tried taking a cold shower or drink cold drink to cool the body down,
or simply, your body naturally activates its defence mechanism to fight the infection.
Usually for fever cases, only high fever warrants an att C, otherwise,
it's usually either att B (light duties) or sickbay + Panadol / Anarex + IV drip.
Hi MO,
I have an issue which I need to seek enquiry. Currently I am Pes C9L3 which downgraded recently due to my weight and heel injury. I am having bilateral tendon issue which have been giving pain everyday & Orthopedic have declared uncurable last year. This injury had been with me for 3 years and have tried everything. It just got worst and now the doctor advice me to use cluthes at home. Cut down strenous activities. My recent visit to A&E at CGH, the Doctor give me a memo with the excuse NO walking in work place but I just can't use the excuse in my work as you know economy is bad.
Now my in camp is coming in 2 weeks time. I am a guardsman and pending my situation, is it possible to highlight to them that I am unable to take part? This is consider the last few high key as we were having A tech exercise. Any advice on what's the proper way? Shall I see A&E at CGH to get excuse from in camp or contact my reservice unit? They haven't really appoint me out of my role. I am worried. Please help...

Don't see the need to see the specialist again.
Just bring along that recent memo + the supporting documents that you had submitted for the medical board to the ICT.
Since it's 2 weeks left before the ICT, you should call the Guards NS HRC / reservist unit clerk ASAP, and see how can they help you.
1st thing during office hours today, you should call and ask them for the fax no. to fax over the latest official Medical Board PES MC.
then ask camp doctor for a more stronger medicine lor...
or simply, just go report sick at your neighbourhood GP clinic, take MC and give your coy clerk lah...
Originally posted by iFruit:Hi, during my medical check up i was given a temp pes D for 1 month due to pending medical review on my blood (i declared that i have Alpha Thalassaemia). The funny thing was, i had my official medical report from the National Thalassaemia Registry at KK, but the MO said they don’t need it as they would do their own blood test.
So now, i just received the updated medical summary and they gave me Pes B L1, from what i know some of the Alpha Thal enlistees were given Pes C before, is there some kind of discrepancy between Alpha Thal enlistees? In the summary, i was told that my pes status may be reviewed again or i may be called up again.
What i would like to clarify is, first why didn’t the MO during my check up didn’t even bother to look at my official medical report, and what are the chances of my pes status remaining at Pes B?
Thanks!
Please call CMPB MCC @ 6373 1340 during normal office hours to request for a PES review, and ask for a fax no. to fax over your medical report as a supporting document for the review request.

Yes, you can.
Just request the camp MO for a referral to a hospital.
But whether or not the specialist wants to operate on your eyes, it's up to the hospital specialist, not your camp MO.

Hi MO,
Just want to clarify a point, which I saw from an earlier post.
I've brought my specialist's letter to MO to review & endorse. MO endorse and give "Excuse ICT from date to date".
I've called up my reservist unit HRC, and the clerk told me that my CO insist that I still have to in-pro for my reservist, and get endorsement from my reservist MO.
1) Is this the right procedure? If not, who can I send my complaint to?
2) If I have to in-pro, does my reservist MO/CO have the authority to reduce my medical status, such that I have to continue with my in-camp?
Thank you.

1) Although the CO has the rights, you may wish to lodge a complaint / appeal email to [email protected]
2) If you have no choice but to in-pro, please in-pro 1st.
Question the issue of responsibility if should unfortunately, your condition / injury is aggravated. You can file a training injury report to seek compensation claims.
