if PES E wanna upgrade and sign on, is it possible to sign some form of medical waiver? PES E reason is cause blind in right eye, however both master hand and eye (duh) is left.. -

As an aside, anybody thinks MOs are too high ranking? Even though they are medically trained ,at most they should be LTAs.. even US army doctors start as lieutenants instead of captains.. random hum

Although not really related to SAF, how about Police force? Are they more lenient towards PES upgrading? Hopefully the resident MOs can shed some light on this..

ord ffi is a rather simple and straightforward affair. you do it at your unit's medical centre. anyway, it's not so simple for an MO to upgrade someone. and if you have been permanently downgraded, then why fear? -

Haha as far as I am concern there is no medical waiver form. The only way to upgrade from a perm downgrade is to medically show that you have improved from your supposedly permanent disorder. After you would have to be re-boarded to upgrade your status.Originally posted by mdfjami:Yo Sir,

hi, anyone can help me out, anyone have any idea on hows the Aeromedical Check up idfferent from the CMPB check up? i heard they will check ur balls, but how??haha..... really curious

nothing new about checking ur ball.
and actually, the process go like this,
U will be in this room with the MO,
he will ask you some question, den he will ask u to drop ur shorts and underwear and then cough, then over liao

yesterday, i went for checkup at CMPB. I failed at the hearing test, the
personnel said that i got high tone hearing loss and i even went for the
second attempt and resultf is still the same. Now i have to come back again
nxt month to check my ear. Sian....my ear quite normal leh...can listen to
normal tone except i can't really hear the very soft tone. If my case is
confirmed, what PES status will i be?
I'm actually got consider of signing on but not confirmed yet. I hope to be
liable for this sign on option. If i kanna PE C or E etc, then i got no chance to
sign on right?

Turing your head and couging is to ensure that you dont cough into the MO's face. The purpose of couging is mainly to check for the presence of any hernia

In regard to the ORD FFI, It is usually a very brief examination. Think about it, it is to check if the personnel is fit for ORD... I mean everyone should be fit for ORD. The main reason for the FFI is mainly 2 fold
1. To ensure that the serviceman has no outstanding medical conditions that needs follow-up
2. To ensure that a perm PES status is given. No PES D.
As to the rumor that the MO will take the opportunity to upgrade the person, don't think anyone is that free to create additional work for himself.
Think I forgot to intro myself, I was previosly an NSF MO doing staff work and hence worked closely with the senior commanders and got to know the policies behind all the medical directives

I suffer from Dequervain wrist for the past 1 year plus. My MO recommend me for medical board.That was in Aug 2004.Problem is until now still no news of the outcome, I have tried checking with my NS unit but they said I have to wait . How long must I wait for the medical result? Currently I'm PES B.

Your medical board is probably a board in absentee type, in which your medical officer will present his petition to a senior medical officer for consideration.
Few things possible
1. Medical boards fully booked for months and hence your case has not come up for review.
2. Your medical officer has forgotten about your medical board and hence no medical board for you condition has been arranged
What I would suggest would be to ask the senior medic of the medical center when you medical board is scheduled for. Medical officers are always ORDing but the senior medic is the one regular person around -

i just had an ankle operation(bostrom gould) for my right ankle due to ankle instability. Yesterday, i visited my camp MO, and showed him the specialist letter which suggested permenant downgrade.
But my MO Sir said he could give me a temp 6months status. And he said since i am going to ord in March, i should ask for a medical review after I ord. And it would be easier to downgrade as a NSman.
Is this true?
Why doesn't he want to downgrade me immediately? He even said,"why do u still need a downgrade when ur ankle ligament is repaired?" -

Interesting question
The purpose for the temp downgrade is for conditions which are expected to recover after a period of resting, hence no need for a perm downgrade.
For your particular condition I am not too sure what the directory of disease manual states as to the recommended PES status, but in all likely hood should be minimum PES C.
As to why you medical officer has refused to do the necessary procedures for perm downgrade, it is quite likely that you will ORD before your case comes up to board, hence administratively it would make more sense to arrange for the board after you ORD. [/quote] -

One questions: How do i downgrade after i ord?
Not that i want to chao keng, but i fear that if i am sent to a reservice combat unit and chiong sua, i might sprain my ankle when i bash thru the forest etc. If this happened, it would defeat the purpose of my operation.
