Recruits getting $500!

gd news for those enlisting!!!
it's confirmed liaoz...
my frens (recruits) called from tekong to told us that they r getting $500. SAF rich sia, from $220 or $240 to $350, then to $500.
but dunno y haven announce officially over the media to say that recruit pay go up liaoz lehz...
wat abt other ranks? got go up anot ah?
any1 noe?

r u sure or not? cannot be la..SAF wun anyhow review the salary one..especially when it juz reviewed it 2 yrs ago..maybe the 500 includes the advance pay which u will get b4 u enlisted?

my frens they juz kena enlisted last week.
now PTP at tekong, then yesterday they called to say pay is now $500 -
wahh, means all the ranks should have pay increase? doesn't make sense if a recruit's pay is the same as a corporal's.

I also second his view that it might have been advanced pay. Maybe Recruit blur blur see "payslip" $500 thought increase allowance. That was wad i thought when i saw mine too..Originally posted by tetsumi:yup sure...

haha... cos quite a few of my frens enlisted last week.
then all c $500 maybe tot is pay is $500.
but my frens said is inside pple announce to them 1 lehz that their pay is $500.
think i gotta call up my frens tonite... -
wah if it is true it is realli a substantial increase man esp since the last review was just not long ago...
wonder wats the motivation of this increase and why now... -

he say confirm recruit getting $500, not wat backpay or wat advance pay, is solid $500 for chao recruits!!!
but will only be starting from august 2004 onwards, meantime recruits will still be getting $350 till august 2004.
wah shiok liao sia...

maybe this is an idea by SAF to boost morale? -
i read from another forum that all ranks will get $150 pay rise from august onwards, but dunno how true this is cos is not 1st-hand news.
but the recruit getting $500 is 1st hand news n is confirm + guarantee + chop chop = -

Your friend wrong lah.
Recruits who enlist will get about $450-$600 depending on which period of the month they enlist.
The first pay is always alot because it includes $30 (neccessities allowance). This is for you all the spend on whatever needed for you for NS, e.g. transport to Pasir Ris Interchange/SFT, bag, u-wear, etc. So that you wun have excuses of no $$.
Then the pay includes $350 basic allowance.
SAF pays you in advance, meaning... the pay you get on July 10, is from the enlistment date to July 9 PLUS July 10 to August 9.
Usually this amounts to around $500.
Thru the course of NS, you will have this "lump" payments after every promotion because your promotion back pay is paid up. -

at the same time.. there are also rumours of pay raise WEF July 10. -
