Got degree, when sign on, will become officer. But not sure if the color deficient will pose any problem or not.Originally posted by erijazz:If you unable to get into OCS... who want to offer you as a officer? Got degree doesnt mean sure can be officer... take a good look on the street... one long que of degree holder out there...
I think what he meant was that if not selected to go OCS during NS, when got degree they also wont allow u to sign on as an officer because they already gauge his potential during BMT. But IMO, case by case basis, and also who u know. SAF not rubbish chute, any tom dick harry got degree can become officer liao.Originally posted by SnowFlag:Got degree, when sign on, will become officer. SAF has this standard practice. If you are a degree holder, when u sign on, you will become officer.Originally posted by Goondu74:I think what he meant was that if not selected to go OCS during NS, when got degree they also wont allow u to sign on as an officer because they already gauge his potential during BMT. RUBBLISH! Thats what a lots of degree holder are think during the economic crisis... if you are offer a career as an officer, you can only be confiirm upon comission as an officer, if you fail... FORGET IT! For those who did not make it to OCS and thereafter attain their degree after they ORD... Only certain officer vocation they may apply like Military Engineering Offficer or Logistic Officer etc... Of coz the relevancy of your degree will be take into consideration as well... PLUS, YOU HAVE TO AT LEAST UNDERGO SISPEC AND PASS OUT AS A COMBAT SPECIALISTOriginally posted by SnowFlag:SAF has this standard practice. u said u have colour deficient. with your eye condition, even if u are so so so luckly as to be accepted into OCS or offered a contact to sign out, it will properly be a desk job anyway. they can't let a officer with colour deficient led his men into battle right?Originally posted by VivId CrItiQuE:hmmm headache leh... i wanna sign on becos its not a totally desk job, and it pays well.. i wan something where i can move ard.. not stuck at the desk 9 to 5.. it seems tt gd paying jobs are all desk bound.. sigh.. is there any other forum for me to post such problems?

i think u r not aware of all the opportunities u have. so i think u need a career counsellor more than any advise on signing on. do not restrict yourself so quickly, unless u r very sure this is the line of work u want.Originally posted by VivId CrItiQuE:hmmm headache leh... i wanna sign on becos its not a totally desk job, and it pays well.. i wan something where i can move ard.. not stuck at the desk 9 to 5.. it seems tt gd paying jobs are all desk bound.. sigh.. is there any other forum for me to post such problems?

Both way... But your contract will be confirm only if you commission as an officerOriginally posted by sgFish:hey..just wondering..do you have to get into OCS before signing on as officer or do you sign on to be an officer?
Ditto!!!!Originally posted by deathscythe99:Get into OCS first. Then sign on.
Better still, finish OCS, be a 2LT, then see what EXACTLY you are getting yourself into and maybe rethink whether you wanna sign on![]()
