One thing's for sure, police force sure pays better, for you guys who are intending to sign for Officer level - PIs, junior officers above up to certain rank.
Even the NSPIs - NSF Police Inspectors, who carry small pistols to clear Obstacle Course (when SAF personnel carry SBO, plus dummy mags and grenades, sometimes knn plus field pack) also earn more than SAF equivalent.
But as a whole, the police deal with real internal security issues, grapple with real threats more frequently than SAF combat personnel, maybe this is why they are paid slightly better. But it's really just different roles, SPF for homeland security, SAF deter and respond to foreign threats.
To a certain extent, "blue arrows and red arrows on a telt sheet, at the end of the day, are but blue and red arrows." This I heard from a lao jiao saf officer.
But really, depends on your interest and personality lar. Also, have to find out more about the job scope before signing on. DO SOME RESEARCH. If you were from NCC or NPCC then I would say you have a little bit of experience... little bit only. Coz real thang is quite different ah.
Have a taste of BMT first lar, before you make your decision. I don't think SAF or SPF will take in people whose calibre they know nothing about. Must see your performance in BMT also.
If you really sign, then... respek... you're doing your part for Singapore.
