i think in the end, other than having a sponsorship to study, you should also like the profession you are getting into. else you may either be wasting years of your time, or spending it miserably.
ask your friends who know more about signing on. at least know what you are getting into. understand what you yourself are interested in too. you mentioned you like action. that's a good first step. but many other professions have action too, e.g. police, medical, civil defence, and in fact, these may have more "real life" action than the armed forces, which we naturally hope will never get to see real action.
many people discourage signing on for money. there must be a reason why. signing on is really not like any other profession. there are conditions to be met (a minimum term of engagement, the willingness to be under military law, the consideration of the environment and hierarchy and structure, etc). in a way, it requires the person to make a certain amount of sacrifice. hence if the only motivation one has to the profession is the benefits, one will probably find himself burnt out rather quickly. it will not benefit anyone.
find out more about the profession, at least to the degree of what you wish to sign on as if you are really going to do so, and find out more about yourself. that's my recommendation.
