No.1 is for parade ceremorial and sometime some officers might wanna have a modify military wedding.
I dont really like to put on no.1 uniform coz most occassion when i have to wear no.1 is when someone deceased...

Well, NSFs don't get much chance to wear that, unless you are an officer, or some guy has appointed you to be the pallbearer when he dies. I doubt you would enjoy the latter.

for NSF..u will only get to wear if u r an officer or u r an MP standing guard at the istanna as well as being the ceremonial guards..but in order to wear dat no.1 uniform u will haf to suffer 10 mths in ocs or slog it out in the MP basic or spec 2 course follow by the tough orientation drill in the Provost's APC...damn xiong n sianz..

e.g. being the guard of honour at NDP, e.g. when you come from 1 cdo at that time. -
the other occasions you get to wear,
being the Guard of Honour of formation anniversary parades or major army parades (e.g. the merging of 9DIV/INF involved wearing of no.1).
the only occasion i got to wear no. 1 was for a funeral. -
Got to wear No.1 as was selected for Guard of Honour for visiting minister and head of states. Tailor made for you......
Our unit, Armour, and Provost was selected during that cycle......Whenever there is a visiting head of states or ministers, we will be activated. Can siam Unarmed Combat, exercises etc etc....
Either at Mindef or the Istana.
The biggest GOH parade was at Istana for visiting President of China, Jiang Cher Ming accompanied by late President Ong Teng Chong, SM Lee, then vice-PM Lee Hsieng Loong and Tony Tan. -

I wore it as part of a Guard of Honor for a fellow gunner who got killed in the line of duty; under the tragic circumstances I'd rather not have the opportunity at all, frankly.
The No. 1 uniform isn't as glamorous to me. We drew it out of our unit store & they stank stale (even after laundrying) & needed a lot of improvisory tailoring (inc. ranks & ill-fitting collars). What's worst of all is the requisitory drills that come along with the attire, to be conducted by a RSM, no less. Imagine marching around the parade square for countless hours a day & for many days, trying to get used to the unfamiliar drill commands & "SER-MU-LAH! SER-MU-LAH!" all the time.
The NDP contingents go through very much the same process, except they kena burnt weekends along the way too. So the visual appearance on the big day always has its context to me, cuz I recognize how much sacrifices were made to prepare for the occasion. -
