When the button is pressed.....but where/what is the button?

I am sure most of you who went thru combat training would hear superiors saying "when the button is pressed..."
i know it's kinda a motivational talk about how ready we should be, etc.
But what is this button? hahaha
a big red one in Mindef? PM's office? Istana?
So far i know, in standby unit, it's a bell to be rung, followed by horning of tonners.
Other than that, it's usually Clerks or COSs calling up personnel to be activated. haha. -
oh yes, i know i am answering it myself.... but don't come by posting things saying it's a "symbolic" meaning and an actual button doesn't exist. i sorta figured that out....

G*** activates standby units. dunno if the button is there or not. -
ya...i also always have this question in mind...they always say once the buttom is press...blah blah blah...so where is this buttom anyway??mindef or where??

4. Army HQ deploy Predator UAVs to form security perimeter.
5. C-130 in the sky will launch SLAM-ERs filled with tactical nukes
and heavy GBU and laser guided bombs towards the targets
6. Uplink with Ofeq-5 satellite will use the Rod of Heaven to
fire and drop some space-launched heavy nukes
7. Guards and Commandos will be floating on the boats.
8. Stealth Ships will activate all the tomahawk cruise missiles all
the loads inside the enemy area -

It's psychology. "To press the button" involves being ready to answer "the call" at at times, & it needn't be a Doctor Strangelove-type of Presidental Red Phone. Someone from DIV could activate a BN or RGT; someone at BN could activate a COY; someone from COY could activate a PL, et al.
The cliche is also rendered more meaningful these technological-advanced days when wars seemed to be fought as much, if not more, by button-pressing than physical combat. -

Then dig out the AMEX charge card and try to call SIA to get flight back (preferably business class), and then call Mindef to see if they will reimburse the cost of the ticket.
