in the letter it said that i need to got for medical examination, photo taking and aptitude assessment.
for the med examination, what is required of me to do? i mean do what ? napfa meh? cant be right?
then what's this abt aptitude assessment? i love NS ?

Medical examination is to check your health, not your physical ability.
And the ap test is to assess your mentality.
Both are effortless. -
if u r lucky u will kanna vocational assigment letter few months later....

It's detailed in the "Shoulder To Shoulder" NS Journal book they sent out to every serving citizen a couple of years back. Visit a library if you can't borrow a copy yourself.
The physical examination decides your PES classification. It's modelled on the British PULHEEMS system...
P - physical characters (height, weight, etc.)
U - upper limbs
L - lower limbs
H - hearing
E - eye, right
E - eye, left
M - mental state
S - stability
...plus one additional checkup item (dental condition), according to the book. The procedure's also supposedly made more transparent, with enlistees told of their "problem areas" on the spot & a health counselor available nearby for follow-up enquires.
The aptitude test is officially called MAPAS (Manpower Aptitude Assessment). It's computer-administered & seeks to assess the cognitive ability to process information quickly & accurately: memory, speed of response, abstract reasoning, ability to follow complex instructions, ability to solve mathematical problems, mental spatial ability, etc. I understand it can take quite a while, but there's no reason to get panicky over it. -

They give u simple simple questions, not those use fourier functions or sorts one lah. Treat it as you would with the SAT or, for a civilian equivalent, your basic driving theory test. Most of the Q's are logical based; you're more likely to make mistakes via complacency or over-hurried reasoning/calculations.
Don't be kiasu & cram prior too ~lol~
IMO Things will become more complicated if they ever "frighten" enlistees by introducing personality or psychological profiling. BTW Mindef does attempt that with combat units (to gauge fighting spirit, etc.) & especially with officers attending advanced training courses.
But no one's ever held accountable for a "failing" grade, so don't worry.
The other tip for enlistees going for the checkup is built around a much-repeated ancedote, but one which always threatens to add to its own legend via each new blur sotong. Namely, when asked you to drop your pants, turn left & cough ... don't drop your pants, hold your prick to the left, & then cough! -

actually i prefer not wearing shorts as u will hav a blue bath robe to cover yourself with... provided u dun have any shorts with you as they dun allow you to walk around wif ur undies lol

wah, now got blue bathrobe,
my time people walk around in undies if they wore long pants to cmpb. but i think the female employees kept "complaining" that they feel awkward with guys in undies walking around because they can see them from outside the room.
MOreover, there are more females enlisting nowadays... i guess saf is playing it safe lah. rather than those enlisting females get into awkward situations. -
yeah.. was so comfortable in the bath robe while i see others shivering ..
