i wanna get this clear,
a armour spec and a armour technician is 2 totally different thing right?
a armour spec's job is know how to operate the tanks and lead his men to war, while a armour technician only know how to repair the tanks right?
so 'm back u are interested in signing on as armour technician not a armour spc who chong suah with his men lah right?
no lah...
i hav checked out miw.com.and did dome homework...am too old for chiong suah...those are actually combat specialist and being one you can specialise in infantry (all riflemen), armour (learn to drive tank , no repairs, lead a tank crew), commandoes (red headed task forces of the army, cream of the corp), signals (lead a platoon of radiomen or a node out to field), as a guardsman etc.
i think engineering specs refers to technicians, service and maintenance personel both in the field and workshops. they can specialist in signal equipments, armour vehicles, weaponry and small arms, ammunitions and explosives.
so if you sign on as a signal engineering tech, u probably will break up a radio set or a series of communication and computer devices and know them inside out should you need to fault-find into it one day.
for an armor engineering spec (or perhaps technician as we call it), you will need to know the armour vehicles you are responsible for inside out i guess, keep it running and fault find it in the field should it break down.
anyway there may be a likelihood that engineering specs (say armor) specialising in a certain operation of a tank. i used to work for XXX organization. they have designers who designa tank, welders and welding inspectors to fuse the hull, mechanics and enngineers to assemble the transmission shaft, dropbox, final drives, dampers, braking, fluid and hydraulic systems etc, electricians and electronics staff to connect the related electrical power circuits, cooling, air exhaust system, lights and communication devices, contract general workers to assemble the seats, dashboards and external armour plates....u see lots of work to be done to make a battle tank.
