Martin, congrats on being posted to MINDEF, don't be fooled into thinking there are chiobus there.... prob more like a handful, and since there are NONE in most Army camps (AF and Navy still ok...Army SIMPLY no standard... got char bor in camp also look like ta por) when ppl make visits to MINDEF they drool and stare until their eyeballs pop out.
I think someone already mentioned, you should be reporting to CMPB/CPC on your date of enlistment (still dunno why you didn't go thru the 5day induction program in tekong) and someone will pick you up from there.
For info, you can either take Bus 177 from Bukit Bakot MRT station (
NOT Bukit Gombak MRT!!!). The stand for 177 is IN the bus interchange itself but only runs in the mornings from 7am - 9am and in the afternoons from 4pm - 6pm. Check the timings again pls, it may have changed. Bus 177 goes all the way up the hill and you only have another 5min walk up to the main block.
Alternatively, buses run along bukit timah road but that means you have to stop on the main road and trek up the hill. The little trek will take you anywhere from 10-15mins, its not as hard as it sounds. In the mornings there is a duty driver who takes his little Minivan and operates a pickup service. Dunno if this is still the case. Oh yar, the buses (these are the few that i can remember becos there are TONS)
176, 178 (this can be taken from the main road outside Bt Bakot MRT) 171, 950, 951, 170, 66, 67, 190, c***b** too many to remember lah. Hop onto the SBS/TIBS website and find out.
And yes, the security there is tight. So PLEASE PLEASE leave your camera phones, PDAs, thumb drives, re-writeable CDs, CD-burners, porno VCDs at home until you get prior authorisation to bring it in. Get a Letter of Authority from your chief clerk when you get posted into whereever.
for heaven's sake, pls don't salute every officer you see there. Your hand will be SUPER tight. A greeting will do. Rule of thumb, if you see a COL (fully loaded 3 crabs), BG (one star), MG (2 star), LG (3-star) and feel like saluting, go ahead. and when you see them in the lift, don't fart, make monkey noises or suddenly decide to adjust your shabby uniform. but very rarely you will bump into them because of the way the bldg is structured.
Any other questions?
P.S. The radar is located besides the macross landing pad which is next to the nuclear missile silo next to the MP's dogs's balls.
