Death while NS Duty: Promote Up 2 Ranks Posthumously?

I have heard from my friends that if you are dead while on duty you can promoted to 2 ranks?
For example, if you are a private and you died while in duty, you will promote 2 ranks up to the corporal. Is it true? -
does it matter to you?

If you died while on training, assume you are other ranks, you will be promote to a Posthumous Officer. eg 2nd Lieutenant.
Promote for what when you are dead !!!!

Yeah, applies for guard duty, COS duty, BOS duty, and DO duty, your head lah.

Promotion for what? You won't be around to feel shiok about it. Might as well concentrate on training safely, and go back home to your mom, dad and girlfriend in one alive-and-kicking piece.

I think a case would have to go through official recommendation. Not convinced with the "straight-to-officer" thing; I've also heard of it but could never confirm that, even after the intimate experience of mine. (But, military funeral/state flag - yes.)
Let's see if Hu Enhuai gets posthumously promoted.
Heck, I myself was doubly promoted - from PTE to CPL - & I'm not dead. The SAF had to advance me cuz I was serving the extra half-year, which meant I ended up uncomfortably "equal rank" with the SAFINCO-trained guys then (in the days before SAF switched to the Specialist system). -
One of my fellow officer died during NSF service (accident during exercise) . There was no promotion of any sort (at least for 2LT).

The very least the SAF could do is to promote anyone who died in service because we are a conscript force.You cannot deny the parents of the dead soldier their flesh and blood, imagine bringing up a child and then losing him in some trg accident.At least promote him, keep his memory sacred and set up a pension fund for the family or his siblings.It may cost money but financial reasons should never come into play as excuse not to respect a fellow man that has passed on.

Why must a fellow officer get promote? When he is already an officer?
During my active time, 1 soldier killed in training. He was given the Posthumous. I went to the funeral and saw it. Everyone was in tears..
Sad case, i was within 1km of his location when the accident happened. The accident could have been prevented if everyone do their job diligently. I sympathise will the guy family.
Train safely and be conservative. If in doubt Stop and do not proceed. Rather to get F*** than to be sorry.
Only Fools compromise Safety. At times, i am that Fool.
Nevertheless i always remind myself, thou shalt never compromise when others are involved. -
It was a sad incident. His parents actually refused to accept his sword and S'pore Flag ... and surely they dun care aboout a promotion of any sort. Just wanted to share the experience.
Btw, time they should seriously review TSR & TD.
