Job Scope?
Varies...
First you gotta know what your qualification will put you to which trade.
AE = Airframe/Engine
EI = Electrical Instruments
RC = Radar & Communication
Mechanical = AE
Mechatronics = AE/EI/RC <<< i think
Electrical = EI
Electronics = RC
For AE, they separate it further into two groups, Rotary Wing and Fixed Wing.
After you get posted to your unit, you will be sent to OLTC to be trained in your particular aircraft.
Trades other than AE will have a high chance of posting to 2nd Line. AE will have a higher chance of getting to the 1st Line.
1st Line is where the DCC (Dedicated Crew Chief) are, they service the aircraft, prepare it for flight, check it after flight and work weird shifts. Knowledge of the aircraft will be general in the 1st Line.
2nd Line is where most will go. EI and RC will do their stuff, but AE will be separated again. AE trade can be sent to either Structure Flight or Engine. 2nd Line is like the workshop or garage, major servicings will be done there. Knowledge will be more specialised depending on which part of the aircraft you're working on.
e.g. 1st Line encounters a snag (aircraft unserviceable), using their general knowledge of the aircraft, they will find out where is the problem. So lets say the engine has a problem, they will make a phone call to Engine Bay and ask the engine guys to come take a look, because they have the tools. If let's say a bulb blows on the flight panel, the 1st Line guys will make a phone call to EI guys to come fix it.
That's roughly what happens if that's what you wanna know what happens behind the scenes... but the conclusion is...
You never know where you'll be posted to.

The course for RSAF snr tech is divided into 2 main parts. The first parts consists of modules from all the trades. The objective is to allow trainee to understand the different parts of aircraft, such as engines, airframes avionics, electrical system etc.
After the first parts of the course, the class will be divided into different specialised group. Each group will have their own specialize modules to complete.
There is no programming lessons in the course. Test will be conducted after each modules and an exam will be conducted after each part of the course (i.e. 2 exam).
It's not difficult to pass, as long as you pay attention during lesson.
