Appointments of a NSF 2nd Sergeant

  i'll like to know other then platoon sergeant, what other appointment does a NSF 2SG holds in a unit?

  it really depends on the vocation - there are alot of other possible appointments for a 2SG. e.g. int spec, ops spec.

  buc spec - make sure no 1 in ur com fail its ippt,soc,uc n range....if their window burst = tio buah kaya gao gao....

  Haha... if I remember correctly, 2SG is only the rank. He may or may not be a PS.
  
  Haha... During my In-Camp, a few 3SGs are promoted to 2SGs , because need people to go help draw ammo. Now I heard the rules are changed slightly? Not sure...

  Drawing ammo sucks...
  
  Wake up early in the morning... wait outside the ammo dump, draw the damn ammo..... etc etc... lucky I only did it once!

  Yeah.. and it doesn't end there?? Returning ammo lagi worse. The siao kia at the ammo base want to kuailan you ask you how come no 100 % RAI .... Suck thumb

  Not only NSF 2SG, in fact all 2SG and above can do so. Some people actually claim that promotion to 2SG will depend on if the unit have enough people to draw ammo or not lah... well just a joke but I guess it has some truth in it? So even during reservist people hate and try to siam the "promotion" to 2SG.

  I am a 2SG, was lcoal sergeant (before the term specialists came about ) during NS. Appointment then was PS.
  
  In reservist, I was confirmed 2 SG but held the appointment of ALO (asst. liaison officer). I was attached to platoon plus forces engaged in heli-insertions. I was responsible to liase between the force and air units.

  quite true. my unit got a few NSF 3SG promoted to 2SG, cos not enough people to issue ammos. not bad lah 2SG, no need to do guard duty.

  2SG needs to do BOS duty.
  
  Of course there are instances whereby I've seen RSMs insisiting that newly posted in NCOs experience what actual prowling and doing sentry duties is like before assuming BOS duty in the future.

  2SGs in different units hold different appts.Those in combat units will do BOS, hold INT SPEC or OPS SPEC appointments, whereas in Log or Svc units, they are just like any other soldier,still must do Guard Comd, Guard 2IC duties, even Duty Orderly.

  Yup... I can affirm the red tape.
  Sometimes, there is a good explanation, but unfortunately no higher-ups will want to take the time to explain.
  For my reservist job, actually a 3 SG can do the job, as long as he is infantry trained and pretty " zai". I did make this comment once to my CO, but he offered the explanation that he needed someone with PS experience to go out with the platoon plus force to coordinate air support for the officer and his platoon sgt. Someone who is acceptable in rank to talk to the 2 most senior guys on the ground.

  btw.... its only a local 2SG...... when u ord... its back to a 3SG...
  
  i was promoted cos to assume the role of PS...
  but now im back to 3SG.... so i tink can siam the extra years of reservice...... hahahaa
