Sign On: Worth It? Wise? Outside No Good Job Prospect? How?

hi hi... someone referred me here to post my query...
i'm currently very blur about the whole signing-on thinggie... i'm now a 3rd year polytechnic student... taking the Business Information Technology diploma... i want to sign on for the army yet i don't know which to choose...
do combat specialists undergo very tough trainings? if i'm signing on as a combat specialist, which one would be better to specialise in???
what's the difference between signing on as an Officer and signing on as a Specialist??
any replies would be much appreciated... thanks!

Business Information Technology Diploma.
Looks like army is the best choice for you.
You can't go to the technical side of airforce unless you wanna be a Pilot, C3 or ADA
The rest will tell you about their vocations... check back once in a while. -

What about DSTA, as long as you aren't hard-up for the army aspect?

Click on the Careers tab for further details. Not sure if they prefer university qualifications over polytechnic ones, but you could email them for more info. -

if you sign on combat specialist or officer, you will go thru combat training just as guys do.
For Officers, your bmt will be at unit/ocs followed by your 10 mth term.
combat specialist, bmt at tekong, specialist training at tekong... then go to unit.
there is no difference for training between guys and girls other than a lesser physical requirements for girls. some trainings are exempted for girls due to their physiological differences.
If you sign on service specialist, then you just attend 2-weeks ALL-ladies bmt. -

I think SAF allow ladies to serve in more combat roles pretty recently. I remember during my time, only arty and signals have females in combat. Now we see almost every formation also have. -

DXO is better coz i think my S1 is a very nice person, so u can help guys like me that are too stress and sad to console us

there is a Guards Servicewomen.... she was from my batch.
as for female PC... there is one now in Scorpion.
i think servicewoman should just sign on just as guys do lah. Go for the adventure and $$$ -
should sign on as logistic officer , my previous log o is a female too

I speculate she'll be in for a tough time if she has no idea of the SAF culture in the 1st place, not even the difference between a regular officer & regular specialist.
If she's harkening for some sort of Iron Bowl job with some quasi-military influence, IMO DSTA is still the best option (subject to educational qualifications). She can foreseebly apply, & build on, what she learnt in school as well. -
If there is a female commando, they might as well close the whole damn camp!!!!
Nothing against woman, but if girl can become a commando, many guys can just jump off a building and die, cos they are not even man enough to even think about joining the commandos. GI Jane is seriously one in a billion. -

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) does... though i'm not sure which 'Sayeret' unit has... but I can confirm they have female sniper instructors cos i've seen them in online pics... So does South Korean Police SWAT, I mean female snipers...
