Have anyone here encounters any immigants from Hong Kong, China and Taiwan serving NS here?
For me, I have seen lots of Hong Kongers in my BMT n one of my friends' PC is from Hong Kong.......

Not a big deal. Singapore's 1st few batches of NSFs began with many immigrants too - i.e. ex-Malaysians who bravely threw in their lot with the new republic - though the SAF was quite selective on who to conscript in the early days.
Strictly speaking, a number of the Old Guard politicians weren't "locally" born as well. -
Haha... and from personal experience most of them faced the most difficulties with drills, especially the words of command.

during my bmt, got 1 guy from china. can speak english & hokkien but when shouting commands, the entire platoon will laugh....

from my experience....i ever shouted at a recruit in english asking him to do something (clear arms)... he stood there defiantly doing nothing. I was shocked at his audacity.... so i repeated the command.... he replied in chinese... "i cannot understand english" -
maybe it's because i work in a guardhouse, all of the chinese here are PRs, including me. all from malaysia and 1 from china.

Dun laugh at them... PRC guys who come here are extremely motivated, bright and proud of their country of birth, China... especially now with its ascent... And they're all not afraid to take risk and venture all over the world... their only handicap, English...
