The Army Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) Change of Appointment Ceremony was held on 28 July at HQ 2nd PeopleÂ’s Defence Force. Outgoing Army RSM, SWO Gungadaran, handed over his duties to the new Army RSM, SWO Francis Ng, to take on his new appointment as SAF RSM. Chief of Army (COA), MG Desmond Kuek and other senior commanders joined over 350 Warrant Officers to witness the event.
SWO Gungadaran was appointed the first-ever Army RSM in 2000. He oversaw the implementation of many programmes and initiatives, like the annual Army RSM Retreat, the Warrant Officers’ and Specialists’ (WOSE) Symposium, Training Days for RSMs in the Army, the Army Guide and Ward Scheme set up in all Army Formations to groom future leaders, and the Communities of Practice in the WOSE Corps. SWO Gungadaran said, “It has been a meaningful four years as Army RSM, which has opened up a host of opportunities to galvanise the Army WOSE efforts towards key Army drivers.”
As the new Army RSM, SWO Ng now has the responsibility to drive the WOSE Corps onwards. Before his appointment, he was an active member of the Directing Staff in the Singapore Armed Forces Warrant Officers’ School (SAFWOS) since 2001. SWO Gungadaran reserved praise for SWO Ng, saying, “SWO Ng is a pillar for SAFWOS. I am confident that with his ability, he can bring the Army WOSE Corps to greater heights.”
With dedicated leaders like SWO Gungadaran and SWO Ng, the WOSE Corps is indeed in good hands! -

hes MSG Lim Yeow Soon.. one of the onli red beret csms in bmtc i tink... realli got a shock on the first day of enlistment when i saw my csm in no3 with red beret and LOTS of badges on the no3... ur balls will shrink man..

but it turn out the other way... we onli got tekan by the sgts until we realli feel like dyin... haa
ya... saw him doin lots of carpentery stuff... like making plaques n stuff for any events especially for tat infantry merger thingie .... all the OOT got roped in to help make the structure .. haha.. but it was pretty impressive work of art in the end..
all i can say was... he was the only person i respected and looked up to in the whole of SAF so far... since the day i enlisted till now in my new unit.. i would be glad to work under him anytime

My unit gt BSM. He is a very funny guy, gt once a big shot is coming, so during 1st parade, he said: I wan u all to go n comb ur hair, go n put gel on ur hair. If u dun hve gel, go n borrow fm ur friends. If ur friends dun lend u, go n shake"
If u can rem, during e SAF day a fw yrs back (e one that was held at National Stadium), it was raining heavily. Every1 in my unit wore e tin layer of free poncho that was in e gift pack. Except him, act garan, dun wan to wear furthermore still wearing e berri on his head soaked in e heavy rain. Unlike other units, more n more umbrellas start poping out. He dun allow us to open our umbrellas, saying e person behind cannot c e event on e field. N at e end of e event, again unlike other units just left
, leaving lots of rubbish behind on e bench/ floor. We were make to clear up our area b4 being allowed to leave. -

Sat at 10am. Only CSM and me in the office. Wing telephone ring. RSM say 2 guards report sick, need replacements. CSM say: "Where got???". Put down the phone and turn to me: "Hey JXXX, give me the off-in-lieu book and Fcuk off"
Great guy. Remained as friends until today. -

I forgot my current RSM leh. Wonder who he is
Talk about RSMs and Stuff. I heard this tale from my friend (dunno whether it is true or not).
This guy's father was the RSM of this particular camp and this guy was like one of the OCs of that camp. So imagine during parade, as RSM, he will have to say "Sir" to his son and salute him
Talk about a professional relationship. -
during my BMT in Foxtrot Company, my CSM, MSG Fransis, he was like a living buddha. he didn't tekan us or scold us much. seldom do u hear him scolding vulgarities at us. he was like the slackest person there considering that my company is very garang.
