Any one here from 3SIR 8th Mono ?

Hi people, rather new here, i was reading up some threads rgding 3 SIR with all the commando CO, RSM,C Coy CSM all SOF and the ex OC A being a Ranger and US Ranger trained.
Any one was from the famous 3 SIR 8th Mono ? If i am not mistaken, they should be under the Ns Unit xyz SIR.Very gd Bn, having being trained by Col Sukh Singh.
I'm sure there are lads out there who have heard of Col Sukh Singh and his legendary walking stick =) those who have been to CTC before 2003 will know what i mean .....
I know some ppl compare Col Sukh with Col Lo, but i beg to differ that Col Sukh has the Rommel touch "The best form of welfare is tough training" . He is a commander is gives his men tough training, but during the xyz SIR ATEC last yr ....when u see a 29 yr old soldier leopard crawling and fighting together as a cohesive unit, u know Col Sukh Singh training was well imbued in them.
Just to side track to all the officers posting here...it really bring back fond memories even here in austrialia when i am studing, the following phrase below.
"Let me tell u story, there was a boy called John...."

Huh, you sure the 8th Mono is xyz SIR? A bit unbelievable, considering xyz is under an active brigade working with active SIR units and was best NS infantry. I don't believe the 8th Mono was that power during NSF days.

hmm it either xyz or xya...i rememeber the xyX...aniway..i was attached to the 8th Mono 3 SIR for their ATEC last yr in 2003, dame garang still...they are still part of 10 SIB , the Gryphons ..their CO is the CEO of PropNex Real Estate...pretty rich guy, can buy mobile aircon and treat the entire Bn to dinner (those wedding style, but Halal food) ....Originally posted by Icemoon:Huh, you sure the 8th Mono is xyz SIR? hahahah 1-9, you went thru CTC whilst he was Comd there eh? Were you the batch that kena run another 5km on Sat morning (after the FIRST 5km LIFE run?) because you all didn't sing? When i heard it i thought it was HILARIOUS! (mebbe it wasn't so funny after all cos we were waiting for him for a meeting!!)

nop i wasn't i was attached there for a couple of wks for attachment as my unit was in Brunei, and so happened 3 SIR was conducting BMT for the men then, so i had the opportunity to witness such amazing feats of fitness by the commanders.
The one that impressed me was Charlie CSM , the Navy SEAL guy ...u go where see a soldier clear the low wall similar to how u clear the high beam,jump up, left hand grab the top of wall, swing the whole body across then clear low rope with 1 loop, 3 swings on parellel bars....
and the CO demostrated to us carrying 2 Jerry cans on each shoulder and doing lunges is a gd way of toning up the legs..
i had 3 wks of PT under them ...quite a number of sessions were held by the CO, warm up,
1) 2 rnds ard the camp..
2) 30 push ups
3) 30 sit ups
4) 30 turtle swims ( i dont noe whats the excercise called. u lie on stomach...hands and legs swing back and forth, may sound like idiot,but it gd for the back
5) 30 sisscors kicks
6) 30 neck raises thats
thats considered 1 set, i maxed out at 3 sets..suequent sets increase 1 rd for run ..and 20 for the rest ... -
Col Sukh Singh is that damn nice lor! He is now Hd CLD at SAFTI. Saw his badges. Impressive sia
Col Ishak also another infantry trained (ex CO 6 SIR) Nice guy -
Col Ishak very family oriented, his heart is quite with 6 SIR, but Col Sukh....that guy has RESPECT.
if u attended CTC course when Col Sukh was head CTC, u see how he tekan would be OCs ..haha...taking his famous walking stick, given to him by the New Zeland Army. we used to call that his "Da Go Peng" whack a cpt's head with that.hahaha ..song man ...
My unit CSM was a PS when he was CO, after a 4 day 3 nite Bn FTX, ATEC style in LCK, he told the whole Bn to form up with him and they walked back to Bedok Camp during the night. -

hmm..nah ...haven't go CTC, my turn due next july or next yr when i finish up my studies, crossing my fingers i don't get called up for CTC man ..i was attached to AIOCC for 2 times, each 2 days at least for troop support.the way Col Sukh whack officer, dame boring, but he is gd. Having come from the same Bde, his advice for our Unit ATEC's prep was gd, his prep talk was a no BS assessment of the unit.
One thing that allowed me to gain a gd impression of him , well is his no BS style. i remember the day when a cpt was presenting his orders to the class, during re-org, the cpt wanted the CSM attached to the 84mm to do POL with the main force, then Col Sukh from the top of the auditorim " why in the HELL U want YOUR CSM to do a POL ? why ? need to welcome important guests ?
the 84mm commander should be up to the job !! "
haha dame gd man ...he also reitierated COA then MG Ng Yat Chungs words, that the COA/CDF words to him during his stint as Commander, SAS, to the Bn commanders "Do you think your unit's specialist are ready ? "
reason is simple, specialist are the ones commanding the other 6 weapons, as an officer, you cann't be everywhere, if your sect comds are ready, your plt is ready to fight. Thats why SISPEC empahsis the importance of section intergrity and cohesion, thats the most vital glue in the Bn...
