ya loh, western food..still rem as a rec in tekong gt half a side of a fried chicken together w french fries, bread, baked potato, mushroom soup, rose syrup n lastly ice cream as dessert. anyway, i still don't understand why people still complain about the food. -
haha ..yup, i think the big shots count to whether your food is gd, but i like to sidetrack that i been to 3 SIR in Bedok Camp, their camp biggest shot was still the CO, the food was still on par with my side, but i have to admit Selerang Camp is still pretty gd due to the fact Div Comd always troop down for breakfast and lunch..So if any one really wants to taste hawker fare, pls troop down to Selerang Camp, too bad 6 SIR now shifted to Maju Camp
the last time i had the rubbhish salmon burger with fries,hotdog eggs and bun was the last meal i had as a cadet before falling in 2 hrs later for the parade.haha...me and my buddy cooked instant noodles and helped ourselves to the food excluding the buns..hehe -
I still prefer SIW food or I mean the whole pasir laba camp

E best food i ever had in e SAF cookhse during my 2.5yrs in e army was only once as a rec at tekong. That was a very special ocassion. Sme big shots frm other countries cme to tekong n had dinner at e same cookhse with us. Big shots, who?, i dunno. But our spec warn us b4 hand, dun anyhw talk when entering e cookhse.
E dinner was very special, big prawns, satay, drumstick, etc, etc. Until my plate almost overflow w lots of good eating food. We even had ice cream cone AND fruits as dessert. Usually is only ice cream stick only or fruits n nt both.
That was e best meal ever in a SAF cookhse! Talking about wai yang in e SAF. -

Manyak welfare, dah. My 1st ever meal in Tekong was the worst I've ever eaten: starchy rice with boiling water, that's all. I dunno if it was deliberate or not; we were already late for lunch (3 pm) after all that enlistment inprocessing & equipment collection, waiting for the RPL at Changi, & then marching from the old Camp 1 to the Camp 3 cookhouse.
The rest of my BMT in the mid-80s wasn't much better. Most of my platoon were too physically worked up - if not exhausted - to eat lunch or dinner, & thus relied mainly on night snack for carbo fuel. Have fond memories of wolfing down, in one go, half a dozen sandwiches or 2-3 cupfuls of beehoon for every supper. -
Nowadays not only Chap Cai Peng but also chicken rice, nasi nberiyani, pandan rice, italian cruise etc in some camps!
