Get Volvo/Saab to build our 5 tonner next time lar..Originally posted by BrUtUs:they felt off tonner ah?
err, if its the new 5 tonner, its MAN, not ST, altho ST have last says over some parts design.Originally posted by SibeiSuayKia:Get Volvo/Saab to build our 5 tonner next time lar..
kao...ST engineering trucks not safe!

What sorta 'over head shield' u tokking about? If I am not wrong, suppose to have seat belts as well. But then nobody will care to use them, so prolly BOI gotta blame vehcom.Originally posted by SibeiSuayKia:what is the truck made of??
should have made over-head shield..
#!@$!@$!@
a more complex structure...
coz what i think is the truck fell..and the recruits landed on their heads..
THINK saf should not report all the injuries and death..
why? we will be another laughing stock...COURAGEOUS just closed..
the 04' F-16 Crash in USA still fresh
Another LST also got hit last month..minor damage..

Tonners are by right soft skin vehicles, what kinda complex structure u thinking of?
so how to prevent it from happening in the future?Originally posted by EXCO:Are you going to pay me a million bucks if I manage to flip a Volvo? Look, things happen, especially off-road. WRC cars have rollcages all around the driver, still there are cases when drivers get killed when their cars flip.
Its just a motoring accident, no matter how unfortunate it might be. We can debate about the well-being of the 13 soldiers later, but get this fact straight.
Like Dude, it hit a tree. Its got nothing to do with the vehicle per se. Why do we need to re-engineer the tonner than?
It is believed the truck hit a tree as it was transporting stores.
paved on the main road.Originally posted by Moxie:Very curious, though - how come hit tree? I thought Tekong is all paved roads nowadays. Was the vehicle commander at fault too?
5-tonners do flip if the ground incline is quite steep and the vehicle is speeding due to downhill movement.I sat in a LR in Tekong, it almost flipped near the reclaimed land area.My BMT coy rover once hit a tree, the OOC personnel behind hit his ribs against the power socket module in the centre of the interior and one of my PS injured his chin. The driver was shaking and he ws so lost, garbled his story to the extent that apparently the PS fell out of the window and the OOC guy fell outta the back.Boy, he was a nervous wreck. And the CSM too, for he just changed the tires yesterday.Originally posted by gonegoose:SBSK, don't be cock lah. If and when you sit in a 5-tonner and you will know that all you have suggested are most likely NOT feasible. Reinforced headsheidls?!?!?! you know how high and big the tonner is or not? put in head shield then no space to put stores or carry personnel then buy 5-tonner for F***? i cannot even begin to comprehend or fanthom the idea of a headsheild....*shakes head* If you said something smarter like improve the electonic traction controls or suspension then perhaps. But this incident may be due to human error, so the problem here is due to training (or lack of). Not everything is about the tools boy.
There used to be a high incidence of LSVs rolling over when we first bought them from Aust. It was found that this was due to lack or and improper training, as such, this was improved. Anyone who has seen those 2 modified LSVs in Dieppe should know what i'm talking about, simple and pretty damn impressive.
On a seperate issue, did anyone hear abt the 3-tonner who rammed into old PLC gates back in '01? Langa the pillar until the half pillar gone and bricks all over the floor!! dunno what happened to the driver, but i would imagine he was shitting bricks himself!
i heard from my friend in tekong that the driver is speeding and that the v com is a CPT! the v com definately is to be blamed too. cos he's the one who must assume total safety.Originally posted by Moxie:Very curious, though - how come hit tree? No, BX don't flip onto its side only, it even flips all the way upside down, it sinks in water too.Originally posted by SibeiSuayKia:So basically the 5-tonner is a TALL vehicle..
any new technologies to make the vehicle more safe to drive??
Can Bionix flip on it's side as well? I don't think so right
A CPT as a V-com is NOT TRUE. I read the incident report for this incident. It's a tonner from one of the SAR that starts with 4 (haha, its 4X SAR)Originally posted by Gordonator:i heard from my friend in tekong that the driver is speeding and that the v com is a CPT! the v com definately is to be blamed too. cos he's the one who must assume total safety.![]()
