Currently attending Platoon Sergeants Course.
The info you have on PS Course is quite old. The current course is now more like 6 weeks long and is divided into two phases, namely, the Common Phase & the Operations Phase.
Common Phase teaches drill & ceremony, safety and administration related courses and is attended by trainees from all Army formations including the Combat Support formations like Armour, Engineers etc. A team building element consisting of a technical field camp has also recently been added.
After Common Phase, personnel from Infantry, Guards, Intelligence and Military Police stay behind for the Operations Phase which teaches Infantry tactics up to Plt Commander level. Trainees are assessed when they hold PC or PS appointments on exercise.
Another note, if the proposal goes through, the current PS course is being revised and will soon be much much longer. The duration will be revised upwards to around 2 months or longer so that a Plt Sgt will have been on course (including BSLC & ASLC) for at least as long as his Officer counterparts in their OCC. An overseas element will also be added and this may take place in Brunei or India. ASTW is currently sorting out issues like how this will affect NS Men PS Course trainees due to the 1 month call-up limit (...maybe a seperate NS Men PS Crse??? NS MEn are already excused from the Common Phase...).
All these changes are expected to come into effect sometime next year. -
By the way, in the list of companies, you ended at Golf.
On the new SISPEC campus, blocks have been already assigned for companies all the way up till Mike. The new coys are going to be opened as need arises due to the Dragon year babies and I guess... maybe the much awaited new route where BMTC ppl go through SISPEC before going on to BSLC or OCS? -

im going to sispec soon...but im not quite a leader but im very interested in engineering stuff, electrical, electronic etc...so can i request to be posted to eng spec after bslc... -

U can always hightlight ur interest to ur PC. During ur interview with PC just ask him lo.

currently the ASLC are taken by echo and foxtrot company and they will take for 4 batches before another 2 coy take over. and there are frumours tt from 41st BSLC onwards all training will be in section level. meaning during outfield exercises they will only learn fire movement in section level. and nutcracker will be taken out and place in ASLC. and BSLC heard only last for 8 weeks and 41st ASLC will last for 13 weeks as those things tt are lost will be replaced in ASLC.
any ASLC or sicpec warriors would like to confirm this? -

used to be only from Alpha to Golf, a total of 7 coys last time.

Nutcracker is a trench digging defence exercise. Very fun.

Hi guys, just registered with the forums here. Just passed my ORD last month. I was an armour specialist, went to India for my overseas stint. For all those new guys posted to SISPEC, u guys got it good. Its no more in Tekong! I had to spend 6 months in dreaded Tekong, not forgetting Exercise Nutcracker.
I was the last batch to spend my trainee days in Tekong. I was formerly from SISPEC Echo. Didn't forget the crazy training with my commando PC and OC and the 32km FBO Route March.
Anyway i wish all of you guys still serving NS all the best and have a fruitful experience in the army.

Since now Sispec is in the new PLC, y not they have a combined Graduation parade for all trainees, i.e. all trainees from aslc, aisl, medic spec 2, engineer, etc....return to PLC to get their 3sg rank in their number 1?

Thats what i am thinking! But the courses don't end on the same date so we can't have a specialist POP
Armour specalist course is 1 of the longest, 4 months!!! It took me 7 months to become a 3rd sgt, just 2 months lesser than an officer. WTH.....
Another thing is we don't pass out in no.1 in our POP, its kinda sad....
If they could issue a no.1 dress for specalist's POP, it would be great. Still, OCS is given priority, but my choice would still be a specialist.

I actually agree with you. a COmbined Parade for that particular batch of SISPEC BSLC trainees.. no matter which formation you were posted to.. as long as you're a cbt sgt... like after the longest course ( AI right?)... all of that batch from the same BSLC will return to PLC to don on the new ranks.
