ARMY LOGISTICS
'The Lifeblood of the Field – Logistics.'
Just as the human body requires a continuous blood flow to every part of the body, any failure or choke in achieving that will cause parts of the body to feel numb and break down. Similarly, the Logistics arm of the Army seamlessly delivers material as needed to sustain the ArmyÂ’s effort, harnessing state-of-the-art technology in this area. The timely delivery of Integrated Logistics Support, to the forces in the battle field, across land, sea and air, will be a key to the success of the ArmyÂ’s mission.
Army Logistics will allow the Army to transit from peacetime to war footing seamlessly and in the shortest possible time. Through greater assets visibility, they can deliver the right material that is critically needed by the combat forces at the right time and right place. Army Logistics will be able to optimise all available delivery systems to deliver the 'punch' – The Combat Multiplier effect.
The Army Logistics is made up of HQ Supply & Transport (HQ S&T) and HQ Maintenance and Engineering Support (HQ MES).
HQ Supply & Transport
The primary role of HQ S&T is to plan, command and provide the Supply and Transport support to the Army during peacetime, transition to war and during wartime. HQ S&T is to act as Senior Specialist Staff Officer (SSSO) HQ as well as Vocational Advisory Authority (VAA) for Supply & Transport Vocationalists in the Army.
HQ Maintenance and Engineering Support
The primary role of the Maintenance and Engineering Support Formation is to monitor and control the available maintenance resources within the Army and facilitate optimal utilisation of these resources on the maintenance of all vehicles, weapons and electronics systems in the Army. It also ensures that equipment are repaired as quickly as possible with the available maintenance resources and achieves this through establishing the appropriate maintenance policies and by constantly applying information technology (IT) and system engineering.[/img] -
THE HISTORY OF ARMY LOGISTICS
A reorganisation of the Logistics formations was carried out in 1994, resulting in the closing down of HQ Army Logistics Command (ALCOM) and the formation of the HQ Supply & Transport (HQ S&T) and HQ Maintenance and Engineering Support (HQ MES).
History of HQ Maintenance and Engineering Support (HQ MES)
HQ MES was first formed in Sep 1984 as HQ Maintenance. In Mar 1994, HQ MES was officially inaugurated as a SSSO for maintenance and engineering matters in the army. Units under MES are 3, 6, 9 Direct Support Maintenance Battalions (DSMB) and Ordnance Engineering Training Institute (OETI). HQ MES actively looks into harnessing IT to enhance her responsiveness and effectiveness. It is the first army formation to attain the prestigious ISO 9002 award in 1995, therefore it is committed to provide quality service to her customers.
History of HQ Supply & Transport (HQ S&T)
Before 1990, 4 logistic formations, namely: Supply, Transport, Maintenance and GS Command, were under the command & control of G4-Army. In the year 1990, the Supply formation and the Transport formation were integrated to become the Supply & Transport Formation and came under the command and control of HQ ALCOM. A reorganisation of the logistics formation was carried out in 1994 where HQ ALCOM was declared defunct while HQ Supply & Transport (S&T) and HQ Maintenance & Engineering Support (MES) were formed to come under the command of G4-Army. -

ARMAMENT
What if the infantryman's rifle misfires in the heat of the battle? What are the consequences of a tank's turret gun systems malfunction during an attack?
Why do these incidents occur?
Join the Army as an Armament Engineering Specialist, and you'll help find out, and prevent them from happening again.
You'll keep abreast of the latest development in armament science. You'll monitor field reports, test results, and see that all our weapons function at their peak. If technical problems arise, you're expected to quickly find a solution.
You role is crucial because you make sure the Army's guns, both big and small, work as designed. After all, what would an Army be if it didn't have guns?
AMMUNITION
Ammunition provides our combat forces with the firepower to defend our interests. Therefore, our Army attaches great importance to its management.
This makes you an integral player in the Army.
As an Ammunition Engineering Specialist, you'll handle all kinds of ammunition and explosives, from tiny 9mm bullets to massive 155mm Howitzer rounds. You'll also act as a technical advisor on all ammunition surveillance, maintenance and safety matters.
All the guns in the world aren't enough if they have no bullets to fire. And your specialised knowledge of ammunition and explosives makes sure that we have the means to back us up.
AUTOMOTIVE
Modern military vehicles are perfect examples of increasingly complex and sophisticated systems.
As an Automotive Engineering Specialist, you'll be the master of some of the biggest and most powerful vehicles on wheels! Be it an all-terrain tank, a versatile land rover or a speedy motorcycle, you'll keep them in peak running condition.
As military vehicles are so important in our modern Army, by maintaining them in top-running condition, you give the rest of the Army the power to move smoothly and quickly to our targets.
There are 3 types of Automotive Specialists:
Class A - Armoured Vehicles (eg. Bionix)
Class B - Wheeled vehicles like 5-tonners, land rovers.
Class C - Heavy equipment like bulldozers, bridging equipment.
You will perform tasks from maintenance, quality servicing and inspections to higher level of engine repair, gearboxes and vehicle overhauling. You will also provide field support and repairs alongside the troops.
As an Automotive Specialist, you may also be groomed to be Workshop IC, Platoon Sergeant, Company Sergeant Major (CSM) and other staff roles like Maintenance Management Warrant Officer or Project Warrant Officer.

MILITARY ENGINEERING OFFICER
As a Military Engineering Officer, you'll face challenges and solving problems that few are qualified to tackle.
You'll lead your team in the forecasting of resource needs, as well as the acquisition and management of vital military resources, so that our Army can function like a well-oiled machine. At the forefront of technology, you'll know how to make the best use of sophisticated defence technology to give us the crucial military advantage.
You'll also work on multi-million dollar projects, making you the envy of many. In return, you'll have to prove yourself by maintaining your abilities at their peak to help shape the future of the Army.
Almost anyone can be an Engineer, but not everybody can qualify and succeed as a Military Engineering Officer.
LOGISTICS OFFICER
As the saying goes, "Good Logistics is Combat Power".
Our Army needs outstanding Logistics Officers to ensure that it has the resources it needs to work efficiently.
As a Logistics Officer, you'll learn to juggle multiple roles - as a Supply Chain Manager, Logistics Information Systems Manager and Resource Manager.
You'll tackle complex logistics issues and ensure that essential support is delivered to the right place at the right time. Well-versed in Information Technology, you'll use your specialised knowledge to improve our Logistics systems. What's more, you'll be responsible for an inventory worth millions!
On top of this, you'll be in charge of training your men, maintaining morale, and looking after their welfare. Using your management and leadership qualities, you'll ensure their readiness, and that they provide the crucial support that will help our forces accomplish their missions.

Yeah true. I'm a graduate from supply chain management. Heard from my female friends, they doing well now. Wonder when i ord will it be tat gd or not. haiz.... but in the eyes of most people, logistic personnel are a bunch of people who only knows how to go canteen eat, sleep inside store & so on, nobody noticed tat how much sai kang we had to do

I know we all logisticians are undervalued in peace and feared in war.
Don't let the snide remarks get to you.Tell yourself and the detractors that if we ever have to REALLY work one day, they can prepare to load magazines and protect their loved ones with their lives.Sometimes, not having any actual work is a blessing both ways.Just do you jobs and get on with it, no point trying to satisfy these people.We get scolded no matter whether we do a good job or not. -

Its very true that logisitics people are often frowned upon by combat troopers always.
Remembered once when we came back from the field, we hadn't had anything to eat except combat rations to eat for 2 nights, me and the platoon rushed to the cookhouse only to see a bunch of "lobos" and HQ personnel queuing for food. Hungry, tired, unbathed and still full of camo and dirt, we are still need to queue long long for the food. Those lobos are still choosing their food and making stupid jokes with the cooks. A man from my platoon shouted "Nabei cheebye, chao ahguas can hurry up or not!!!" The lobos and HQ guys all immediately moved one side and we all got to eat.
Even the BOS and COS presently also smile smile..
But anyway after i gotten in reservist and have more responsibilites as PS, i started to realize the values of logisitics ppl more and more. -
i intend to sign on for ELECTRONICS Engineering Specialist.
i graduate in a month from poly & specialise in wireless communication.
did go through the army web site, in formation not given enough.
how the job scope like?
will i be choosen to spec in one of the electronic area?
wat the area available? -

Under Military Engineering, there is a vocation called Electronics Specialist and there is another called Radar/Comms Specialist.Currently, from what I have heard, their staffing numbers are quite full as their estab is not very huge.Originally posted by jerry82:i intend to sign on for ELECTRONICS Engineering Specialist.

You might have to approach the ARC(Army Recruitment Center) for more info, as they will be in a better position to tell you whether you have a chance at getting the chosen vocation.They might choose to offer you either Armament, Vehicle or Ammo if there is no other option.
