capbadge is onli for 3rd guards(and 6th SIB rite?).....

Guards are used to provide first strike capabilities for the SAF..
they need infantry too to take over an objective with superior numbers...
Infantry need guards too for backup in case the line is breached as guardsmen are highly mobile... or they need extra troops in certain places fast..
so it is a tit for tat kind of relationship.....
Infantry and Guards are never perfect...but work hand in hand to be a perfect warmachine.....one having superior numbers and whacking an enemy like cracking a nut with a hammer....and one having better training and performing the first strike to an enemy..
and yes...when all things screws up...they'll call the artillery....where unlike snipers...artillery are...'One shot, Many kills' -

I don't think Guards are used to take over an objective with superior numbers, but are used as vanguards to pave the way for the armour and other main forces to roll in and deal with objectives with superior numbers.Originally posted by sidestep1984:in a war...

That was not what I understand. I mean they do not have the same objective. Guards neutralise the enemy for the armour and main force to punch through. The Guards commander won't say "shit, how come so many soldiers at our objective. Call in infantry reinforcement".

well. the prestige factor from hearsay, publicity, toughness in training and requirements, and higher exclusivitiy, all contribute to this "abang-adik" perception.
