Anyway how about a 29 year old 1SG when there are 23 year old 1SGs and 30 year old MSG?
Is it because of the educational level? -

Is he a regular? If combat, has he held the appointment of a company commander (or equivalent) before?
If so, I would think it's a strong signal if he still can't climb past LTA. -
I have even seen a 36 years old 2SG before!

Back in the 80s when I was doing my full-time NS... there were "worse" cases. 35 yr old LTAs (one of our OCs) and 40 yr old SSGs.
But I should think that the SAF has improved its HR management. 28 yr old LTA is OK... I think. Could be a lot of factors... e.g. conversion from NCO , after studies / OCS ??? -

My reviewing officer for a parade is said to be of that age. -

The worst condemmed case i've seen is a 47 year old MSG in my unit... And according to the certificate on his wall, he got that rank at 45...
Last i heard he was going for the warrant course -
I thot nowadays they will push out people who can't attain LTC by 45 and WO2 by 40? Someone enlighten me, plse. In theory, if this is correct, there should not be sergeants wandering around the camp who are past 40. Even the reservist Sgts would have ceased their liability.

I know that, but as in all government berueacracies, some will slip through the cracks. Anyway i'm not making this up, the guy is the senior medic of HQ 9 div, from 8 armour before that.
